Lionsgate Names Former Donald Trump Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin To Board

Lionsgate Studios has appointed former United States Secretary of the Treasury Steven T. Mnuchin to its board effective immediately.  

Mnuchin served as the 77th Treasury Secretary under Donald Trump from 2017 to 2021 during the president’s first term. He had served as Finance Chairman for Trump’s campaign and as a Senior Economic Advisor to the President in developing his economic agenda.

The former Goldman Sachs banker also co-founded and ran Dune Capital Management, a hedge fund that had focused on entertainment industry investments. Mnuchin co-financed the first Avatar and has dozens of executive producer credits. He’s currently the Managing Partner of Liberty Strategic Capital, a private equity firm focused on technology, financial services, fintech, and new forms of content.

Lionsgate said Mnuchin’s “decades of leadership across global financial markets – including as a Goldman Sachs partner, leader of multiple investment and banking platforms, chair of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), and as a member of the National Security Council – equip him with seasoned judgment on risk, governance, capital markets and other financial matters.”
