Brooklyn announced on Monday that he does 'not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life.'

Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz have been at the heart of the acrimonious divide that has resulted in them snubbing all significant family celebrations over recent months, including his father Sir David's milestone 50th birthday and knighthood.

David and Victoria Beckham's eldest son claimed in his statement that he has been 'controlled by a family that values public promotion above all else' and that since being with Nicola, he has found 'peace and relief' after battling crippling anxiety.

Brooklyn concluded: 'My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first.

'Family "love" is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo op even if it's at the expense of our professional obligations.

'The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life.

'I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief.

'My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.'

Whislt Victoria has not been spotted since Brooklyn's statement, David was heckled yesterday as he faced the media at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland

The Daily Mail has contacted the Beckhams for comment.

Whislt Victoria has not been spotted since Brooklyn's statement, David was heckled yesterday as he faced the media at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

When asked about the feud, he declined to answer any direct questions but he later spoke, somewhat ironically, on the perils and virtues of children using social media.

In an interview on CNBC's Squawk Box, he said that he has tried to 'educate' his own children about the dangers of social media apps while also showing them how they can work for 'good'.

'I've always spoken about social media and the power of social media for the good and for the bad,' he said on stage.

The former Manchester United star said he'd been able to use his 'platform' and his position as a Unicef ambassador to 'make people aware of what's going on around the world for children'.

He added: 'I've tried to do the same with my children, to educate them.

'They make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes. That's how they learn.'

It's been claimed that Nicola ran out of her own wedding reception in floods of tears as she watched Victoria 'grind' and 'nuzzle' Brooklyn after hijacking their first dances

Brooklyn, 26, alleged Victoria danced 'inappropriately' which left him feeling 'more uncomfortable and humiliated than ever in his life'

Sir David also filmed a podcast with US popular science author Adam Grant, but emphatically refused to answer any questions relating to Brooklyn.

Meanwhile it's been claimed that Nicola ran out of her own wedding reception in floods of tears as she watched Victoria 'grind' and 'nuzzle' Brooklyn after hijacking their first dances.

Amongst Brooklyn's bombshell allegations was his claim that his mother dramatically intervened in what was meant to be his romantic first dance with Nicola.

Brooklyn alleged Victoria danced 'inappropriately' which left him feeling 'more uncomfortable and humiliated than ever in his life' - overshadowing the most important moment of his wedding day.

Now sources have claimed what the dance moves were that left Brooklyn mortified, after Victoria was called onto the stage by US singer Marc Anthony.

An insider told The Sun: 'Brooklyn was so embarrassed and his wife so humiliated and furious to have been upstaged.

'She made her feelings very, very clear on the day. It soured the whole evening.'

Brooklyn has been isolated from his family, including parents David and Victoria, brothers Romeo and Cruz, and sister Harper, for years, with the feud reaching fever pitch this week

The insider added of Victoria: 'There was absolutely no malice there; quite the opposite.'

Meanwhile a different source said David and Victoria are 'baffled' by the accusations as on the day, guests were 'having so much fun' and were 'lapping it up', with no concerns about the mother and son dance raised at the time.

They said Victoria was just a 'tad tipsy and having fun' while 'Nicola didn’t want him to dance with his mum at all – so kicked off about it'.

Page Six reported the actress was so upset she left the reception crying after Victoria 'wrapped her arms around Brooklyn and nuzzled into his neck'.

A source said: 'She [Victoria] was dancing with him very inappropriately. She took that moment from Nicola, that is the god’s truth.

'Nicola ran out crying. The Beckhams’ side of the room was cheering and the Peltz side was quiet.

Brooklyn's statement included claims that Victoria had 'hijacked his first dance' and 'danced very inappropriately on me', leaving the nepo baby 'uncomfortable' (pictured at the wedding)

'Nicola’s friends were saying "You have to go back down." Her face was swollen. She finally came down and was sad the entire evening, it was so heartbreaking.'

Another source claimed Brooklyn spent the weekend 'agonising' over what to say in the six-page statement, after telling his wife 'f*** it, this ends now'.

The insider told The Mirror: 'He thought the abuse towards his wife would never stop until he said something in his own words. He was sick of the lies, and there was no changing his mind….and nor did anyone want to. He was fixated on ending the b******t which he claims his mum and dad are behind.'

Daily Mail has contacted the Beckhams', Brooklyn's and Nicola's representatives for comment.
