EXCLUSIVE: If you think you spotted Julia Roberts and her husband Danny Moder in Park City even though they’re not part of the Sundance slate, it wasn’t a mirage.
They were at Sundance for a secret buyer’s screening of Miss You, Love You, the new film by Jim Rash and Nat Faxon. They’re back on the hill after making one of the splashiest deals ever at Sundance, for The Way Way Back.
Miss You, Love You stars Allison Janney, Andrew Rannells, Bonnie Hunt, Suzy Nakamura, and Oscar Nuñez. The cinematographer is Moder, and Roberts came to show moral support to the buzzy film. The picture is a Madison Wells, Walsh Company and Faxon/Rash Productions picture, with Kevin J. Walsh, Faxon, Gigi Pritzker and Rachel Shane producing.
This secret screening took place this morning in a ballroom at the Hyatt Centric Park City. The producers pushed to screen the movie off-market in this final Sundance year due to their history here.
With all the goodwill surrounding Rash, Faxon, Janney, and Rannells, buyers packed the room. Chairs had to be added before Rash introduced the movie with a speech about his personal connection to the material.
The film is a personal story from Rash. In the absence of her estranged son, a woman finds herself forced to make her husband’s funeral arrangements with the accompaniment of her son’s assistant, whom she’s never met. We’ll let you know where it lands.
