The official reveal for the Extra and Premium PlayStation Plus free games for January 2026 is just around the corner, but we now exactly what to expect thanks to a reliable industry insider who has literally never been wrong. As it stands, we're going to be getting an extra 300 hours worth of gaming goodness. Who needs a social life?

The monthly Essential free games for January have already been revealed, of course, with Need for Speed Unbound, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, and Core Keeper kicking off the new year. Incidentally, French magazine Dealabs and leaker billbil-kun told us about Need for Speed Unbound ahead of time. Now they're back to let us know every game coming as part of the Extra and Premium drop.

PlayStation Plus Gamers Are In For A Bumper Month

300 hours is an awful lot

Lady Dimitrescu looms over the player in Resident Evil Village

We already covered the initial leak yesterday, but breaking it down further, we can see exactly how much value for money we're getting. Using the video game website Howlongtobeat.com, we can look at each of the seven games and really dive into how long we can expect to be playing them for. Perfect if you're trying to plan which one to play first, or which one to avoid if you don't have the time.

  • Resident Evil Village - You're looking at up to 38 hours if you plan on doing everything in Capcom's excellent survival horror.
  • Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth - With 117 hours for completionists (57 if you stick to the main story) this RPG is a commitment.
  • Expeditions: A MudRunner Game - There's 101 hours of content to be found in this mucky racer.
  • A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead - At just eight hours, you can whizz through this one pretty quickly.
  • The Exit 8 - This fascinating psychological horror can be beaten in under an hour, a perfect place to start.
  • Art of Rally - 31 hours to see everything this charming indie has to offer.
  • Ridge Racer (PlayStation Plus Classics) - Four hours, which is about as much as I'd expect from a PlayStation 1 racing game. This is purely single-player content, to to be clear.

Where Do We Even Start?

Seems obvious to me

Where you start is, of course, up to you, but it seems like there's one clear choice to me: The Exit 8 can be finished so quickly that it's basically an entrée for the massive meal to come. After that I'd probably turn my attention to Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, just because I don't want to find out it's leaving PlayStation Plus a few months from now and have to try and beat a 50+ hour game in a matter of days.

Wherever you decide to kick off, I think we can all agree this is a pretty solid month for PlayStation Plus. Not a bad start to 2026 at all.
