How Romeo and Cruz Beckham were accused of 'trolling' Brooklyn with online digs - as estranged brother claims they 'attacked' him on social media before blocking him

Brooklyn Beckham's estranged brothers Romeo and Cruz were accused of 'trolling' him with a string of social media digs, weeks before his bombshell statement where he claimed he'd been 'attacked' online.

On Monday the chef, 26, shared a six-page statement, where he said he has no wishes to reconcile with his family and is standing up for himself 'for the first time in his life', claiming his parents have 'controlled narratives about our family'.

In the months leading to Brooklyn's statement, Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, had raised eyebrows with a series of cryptic digs aimed at their brother.

It was also claimed that these digs were the reason why neither brother was invited to Brooklyn's vow renewal with his wife Nicola Peltz in August, an event which none of the Beckham family were invited to.

Brooklyn then said in his lengthy statement that Romeo and Cruz had been 'sent' to attack him, resulting in his decision to 'block' his brothers over the summer.

Cruz first appeared to 'mock' Brooklyn's wife Nicola after she shared a gushing comment under a post by Romeo's ex Mia Regan featuring her cover shoot for Pop magazine in April.

Nicola wrote: 'so beautiful mia.'

Two days later, Cruz poked fun at the remark after Romeo shared a gallery of snaps on Instagram.

Underneath he wrote: 'So beautiful Romeo,' while his brother responded with a string of crying laughing emojis. His reply has since been deleted.

In May, Cruz then appeared to mimick yet another remark from Brooklyn, after he posted a gushing caption saying he would 'always choose' Nicola alongside a video of them riding a motorbike together.

He wrote: 'My whole world x I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you're the most amazing person i know xx me and you forever baby.'

It seemed that Cruz didn't take took kindly to the post, as just hours later he reposted a family snap from his mum Victoria's show at Paris Fashion Week.

He wrote: 'I love my family, I love you guys more than anything, mum & dad you gave us life and cared for us no matter what, I cannot tell you how blessed we all are to have you in our lives.'

After Nicola and Brooklyn failed to attend his father David's 50th birthday celebrations, Cruz shared a cryptic post on Instagram Stories.

After Nicola and Brooklyn failed to attend his father David's 50th birthday celebrations, Cruz shared a cryptic post on Instagram Stories

After weeks of speculation about Brooklyn's relationship with his family, Cruz took a very public swipe at his brother's various career ventures under a video of his singing skills

Cruz posted a video of himself playing guitar on stage, and a user commented: 'Are you going to stick with this job or going to become a race car driver next or something?'

He wrote: 'It takes 43 muscles in your face to frown, and 17 to smile. Be kind and tell the truth.'

Just weeks before, Romeo shared a screenshot of his Spotify, while listening to Justin Bieber's Walking Away, and he wrote over the top: 'Yup'

After weeks of speculation about Brooklyn's relationship with his family, Cruz took a very public swipe at his brother's various career ventures.

While Brooklyn has shared videos of his cooking skills on social media, he has also pursued interests in sport, photography and styling.

Cruz posted a video in June of himself playing guitar on stage, and a user commented: 'Are you going to stick with this job or going to become a race car driver next or something?.'

He then curtly replied: 'Wrong brother mate.'

The feud with the Beckham family continued to grow as it was then revealed that none of Brooklyn's loved ones had attended his vow renewal in September.

After the ceremony, which took place at Nicola's family's prawling Palm Beach estate. sources said that it was Romeo and Cruz's digs towards Brooklyn, as well as their decision to block him, that meant they were snubbed from the event.

A source told The Sun: 'Romeo and Cruz’s social media posts clearly reflect how they feel about him, and how they’ve been treating him. Why would they expect an invitation?'

Brooklyn doubled down on his feelings towards his brothers in his bombshell statement this week, writing: 'Even my brothers were sent to attack me on social media, before they ultimately blocked me out of nowhere this last Summer.'

Brooklyn announced on Monday that he has cut all ties with his parents and does 'not want to reconcile with my family,' adding, 'I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life.'

Brooklyn and Nicola have been at the heart of the acrimonious divide that has resulted in them snubbing all significant family celebrations over recent months, including his father Sir David's milestone 50th birthday and knighthood.

David and Victoria Beckham's eldest son claimed in his statement that he has been 'controlled by a family that values public promotion above all else' and that since being with Nicola, he has found 'peace and relief' after battling crippling anxiety.

Brooklyn concluded: 'My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first.

'Family "love" is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo op even if it's at the expense of our professional obligations.

'The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life.

'I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief.

'My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.'

The Daily Mail has contacted the Beckhams for comment.

Victoria has been left 'devastated' after taking the brunt in the vicious family fallout - which has all been sparked by a trademark battle over their family name.

Despite proudly declaring he was a once a 'mama's boy', Brooklyn focused mainly on Lady Beckham in his lengthy statement, with his vitriolic comments leaving her 'on the floor in pieces'.

Brooklyn Beckham's statement in full

I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.

I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life. For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.

Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they'll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.

My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn't stopped. My mum cancelled making Nicola's dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.

Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children.

They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated. My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since.

During the wedding planning, my mum went so far as to call me "evil" because Nicola and I chose to include my Nanny Sandra, and Nicola's Naunni at our table, because they both didn't have their husbands. Both of our parents had their own tables equally adjacent to ours.

The night before our wedding, members of my family told me that Nicola was "not blood" and "not family." Since the moment I started standing up for myself with my family, I've received endless attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, that were sent to the press on their orders.

Even my brothers were sent to attack me on social media, before they ultimately blocked me out of nowhere this last Summer.

My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song. In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead.

She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.

My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we've tried to come together as one. My mum has repeatedly invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable.

Despite this, we still travelled to London for my dad's birthday and were rejected for a week as we waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him. He refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner.

When he finally agreed to see me, it was under the condition that Nicola wasn't invited. It was a slap in the face. Later, when my family travelled to LA, they refused to see me at all.

My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first. Family "love" is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it's at the expense of our professional obligations.

We've gone out of our way for years to show up and support at every fashion show, every party, and every press activity to show 'our perfect family.' But the one time my wife asked for my mum's support to save displaced dogs during the LA fires, my mum refused.

The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.

I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief. My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.
