Celine Dion pays tribute to late husband Rene Angelil on what would have been his 84th birthday

Celine Dion acknowledged what would have been her late husband René Angélil's 84th birthday on Friday.

The 57-year-old singer, who marked the 10th anniversary of Angélil's death earlier this week, paid tribute to him in an Instagram post shared with her nearly nine million followers.

The Canadian-born star posted a smiling photo of her husband next to a strawberry cake with candles and added a heartfelt message.

'On your birthday, we celebrate you and our love for you grows every day... You are forever our greatest protector, and your memory continues to guide us...' she wrote.

The couple shared three sons: René-Charles, 24, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 15.

She added in the note, 'Happy birthday René, Notre Amour. - Celine, RC, Nelson, Eddy xx...' 

On Wednesday the My Heart Will Go On vocalist remembered her husband 10 years after he passed away.

Angélil, who discovered Dion and managed her music career for decades, succumbed to throat cancer on January 14, 2016 at age 73.

'Mon amour, ten years without you feels like just a day, and yet each day feels like a decade...' Dion began an Instagram caption.

'Ten years without your caress, and yet every day I feel your touch…We miss you more than we can bear, but you taught us to be strong. We love you more, every day and every year.'

The note was accompanied by a striking portrait of Angélil set on a black piano.

Dion publicly honors Angélil's memory every year on both his birthday and the anniversary of his death.

The star and her husband, who met when she was 12-years-old and he was 38, married on December 17, 1994.

She was 26 when she walked down the aisle, and the couple were married for 21 years. 

Last month the mom-of-three shared a closeup photo of their hands on their wedding day, showing their respective rings. 

On what would have been their 31st anniversary, she wrote, 'And it’s still a yes for me… Happy Anniversary Mon Amour… - Celine xx…'

On their previous anniversary in 2024 she shared another affectionate note, which read, 'You still fill our hearts, every day. You are everything for us. We miss you so much. Happy 30th anniversary, mon amour!' 

She wrote it alongside a stunning black and white image of them on their big day.

Dion's first performed for the Canadian music producer in 1980 when she was a tween. Following the audition, he agreed to become her manager.

Their relationship became romantic in 1987, when the songstress was 19, and the two tied the knot seven years later.

Dion initially feared that the public would assume their relationship began before she was of age, so she kept details of the relationship under wraps for years.

It wasn't until the couple got engaged in 1993 that she was comfortable letting the world know about their relationship.

'When I was at the age to be able to say to people [we were together] ... It was like bang! Love! Love always wins,' she wrote in her memoir, via People.
