Apple TV's perfect sci-fi masterpiece, Pluribus, will only get better thanks to the creative visionary behind the project. The apocalyptic sci-fi series follows Carol, the most miserable person on Earth, contending with the Joining, an event that causes all but 13 people around the world to have their minds morphed into a euphoric, shared consciousness.
The series has earned critical acclaim, with reviews for Pluribus praising the storytelling and filmmaking, alongside cast members like Rhea Seehorn, who portrays Carol. Notably, this is the first series created by Vince Gilligan since Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. It also has the potential to be even better when it returns for season 2 based on the creator's history.
Vince Gilligan TV Shows Get Even Better As They Go
The first season of every Vince Gilligan show is usually its worst. Although it's become a highly-decorated series, Breaking Bad season 1 was a slow start to the show. It introduced Walter White, Jesse Pinkman, and other relevant characters slowly, and while it had memorable moments, they weren't as enthralling as the storyline of later seasons.
Similarly, Better Call Saul took its time exploring Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman. While a spinoff to one of the greatest crime TV shows of all time, the series took on a life of its own, standing alone thanks to its engaging character arcs. Later seasons are more memorable here, too, signaling how Pluribus can progress moving forward.
Pluribus Season 2 Can Be As Twisty As The First Season
Luckily, the sci-fi series has already laid the groundwork for how season 2 can be just as interesting as season 1, if not more so. Pluribus season 1 ended with Carol learning her eggs are being turned into stem cells so she can become part of the Joining. After returning him with an atomic bomb, she decides to start working with Manousos to save the world.
Pluribus season 2 will likely be just as full of twists as season 1. Manousos seems to have discovered something about a radio station involved with the Joining, while Carol no longer trusts any of the people who are part of the hive mind. The pair's work together will enhance the tension as the story develops and widens over time.
When Is Pluribus Season 2 Coming Out?
MovieStillsDBAs of writing, there's no word on when Pluribus season 2 is going to come out. However, Rhea Seehorn stated season 2 is currently being written, a good sign the show will be filming sooner rather than later. Gilligan, on the other hand, said he's not going to rush the series out, meaning the wait could still be long.
Even so, Gilligan has proven with shows like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul that later seasons of his are more refined. With this in mind, Pluribus will likely get even better as it goes on. The show is said to have a plan that could stretch through season 4, meaning there's plenty more buildup to come as it progresses.
