Why Nick Jonas Walked Out of Golden Globes 2026

GLAMBOT: Nick Jonas & Priyanka Chopra | Golden Globes 2026

Nick Jonas was burnin' up with anxiety at the 2026 Golden Globes

After he was spotted stepping outside for some fresh air during the Nikki Glaser-hosted award show in Los Angeles Jan. 11, the "Jealous" singer provided insight into why he needed a break from the annual festivities.

In a video shared to X Jan. 11, Nick—wearing a classic black tux with a matching bowtie and white undershirt—stood alone outside of a tent at the Beverly Hilton hotel surrounded by palm trees and green foliage. And while he enjoyed his breather, he sipped from a glass bottle of water and rubbed his chin, seemingly deep in thought.

Following the clip's circulation, one user shared their guess on why he had to exit the ceremony, commenting, "Social anxiety got the best of him."

And shortly after, Nick confessed that the theory held some truth—all while working in a cheeky nod to his new solo single "Gut Punch," which was released Jan. 1.

"Yeah," Nick replied in a Jan. 12 message on X. "It hit me like a gut punch."

Of course, "Gut Punch" isn't really about the Jonas Brothers member's anxiety over Hollywood events. In fact, Nick previously detailed that the song is more about contemplating his role as a partner to his wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas and as a father to their 3-year-old daughter Malti Marie

“I tend to be hyper critical of myself, not typically about my appearance or getting older, but I was wondering, ‘Am I doing everything to be the best version of myself? Am I a present and thoughtful husband? Am I a good father?’” the 33-year-old said in a statement to People Jan. 1. “As time goes by, the stress and complications of life will weigh on you. It’s important to remember there was once a version of you who was carefree and loved the world.”

One way the Camp Rock star showed up for Priyanka as a husband? By stepping out for a glamorous date night at the Golden Globes alongside the Quantico actress, who wore a custom Christian Dior gown and statement Bvlgari jewelry for the occasion.

Indeed, Nick told Live from E!: Golden Globes on Jan. 11 that the couple was thrilled to be able to celebrate "such a great year in film and TV."

And Priyanka echoed that sentiment, telling E! in the joint interview, "It's really wonderful to meet peers and colleagues that you have watched through the year and that you admire."
