The ugly legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni shows no sign of slowing down, with another dramatic week adding to the ongoing feud.
This week has seen newly unsealed text messages revealed in court papers between Taylor Swift and Blake, a reference to Jameela Jamil's 'suicide bomber' remark, and fan backlash over Ryan Reynolds's 'cringe' emails to author Colleen Hoover, which has garnered headlines.
The conflict stems from movie It Ends With Us, where Lively and Baldoni have been locked in a high-profile legal dispute that has continued to escalate for more than a year.
It began in December 2024, when Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department, alleging that Baldoni sexually harassed her during production of the film - a claim he strongly denies.
Since then, both sides have launched competing lawsuits worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
The Daily Mail breaks down the latest developments in the case this week.

Blake Lively's catty texts with Taylor Swift
On Monday, the release of explosive text messages gave the first real glimpse of Lively's headspace when the saga began.
Lively’s catty texts with Taylor Swift were revealed as part of the lawsuit over the movie It Ends With Us.
The pair traded unflattering remarks about Justin, the director and Lively's co-star in the movie.
According to court papers, Lively called Baldoni the ‘doofus director of my movie’ while Swift agreed to help her, saying: ‘I’ll do anything for you!’
After a meeting about changing the script, Lively called Swift the ‘absolute greatest friend ever’.
In other texts, Swift gave Lively advice about using one of her songs in the film and suggested that Baldoni was not 'strategic'.

Just before a bombshell article in the New York Times outlining Lively’s claims was due to come out in December 2024, Swift told her friend: ‘I think this b**** [Baldoni] knows something is coming because he’s gotten out his tiny violin’.
The court papers also reveal that Lively bad-mouthed Baldoni to her other famous friends, including Matt Damon and his wife Lucy, and she allegedly told Ben Affleck that Baldoni was a ‘chaotic clown’.
The texts were revealed in a lengthy court document filed in the federal court in New York in which Lively responded to dozens of claims made by Baldoni.
Blake Lively and Brandon Sklenar unload on Justin Baldoni
Blake and her It Ends With Us co-star Brandon Sklenar appear to torch Baldoni in newly unsealed text messages submitted as evidence in court
Lively and her It Ends With Us co-star Brandon Sklenar appear to torch director Baldoni in newly unsealed text messages submitted as evidence in court.
In the messages, Lively and Sklenar, who played lovers in the film, initially chat about television work before the conversation shifts to their experiences during production.
Lively alleges Baldoni entered an editing bay to view her cut of the film 'without authorization', after she had already completed her own edit.
In the exchange obtained by the Daily Mail, Lively writes, 'He’s bats***,' while Sklenar comments that Baldoni is ‘definitely scrambling’ and ‘totally f***ing himself for any future work’.
Lively then responds, ‘Oh you don’t know the first of it’, before unleashing further claims against Baldoni.
According to the unsealed exchange, she texted: 'Yeah the crazy thing is I would’ve continued to let him take credit for everything . He would’ve been handed a career. He would’ve been f***ing on his next job, but he at least would have been a big sucesss [sic].
'And he’ll still hit. But the word is out. And I’ve been protecting it from getting out bc all I want to do is focus on the work and not be pulled into the f***ing mess they make.

Lively then responds, ‘Oh you don’t know the first of it’, before unleashing further claims against Baldoni
'But they wreck [sic] havoc everywhere they go. And everyone sees it. Then they come to me.'
Lively then recalls a moment on set when Baldoni allegedly leaned in and told Sklenar he had something to say but stopped himself, warning he would ‘probably get canceled’ and remarking that ‘you can’t say anything on this set anymore’.
Sklenar replies that he vaguely remembers the exchange, though he says he does not recall whether Baldoni ever explained what he meant.
Lively then claims Baldoni frequently attempted to pull others into what she characterizes as his ‘messiness’, framing the comment as her personal impression of his conduct.
Later in the conversation, Sklenar says he is baffled by what he views as Baldoni’s lack of foresight, particularly in light of his public persona shaped by TED-style talks, podcasts and books.
Lively responds that the contrast ‘makes perfect sense’ to her, alleging Baldoni was ‘running from something gnarly’ while presenting a more polished image publicly.
Sklenar appears to agree, replying, ‘It does make perfect sense.’
The Daily Mail has not received a response to its request for comment from reps for Baldoni, Lively and Sklenar.
Jameela Jamil brands Blake Lively a 'suicide bomber'
Jameela Jamil branded Lively a 'suicide bomber' and a 'villain' in explosive messages as the actress became embroiled in a legal battle
Jameela Jamil branded Lively a 'suicide bomber' and a 'villain' in the explosive messages from court papers.
Among the 181 pages of court documents are messages between Jamil and Baldoni's publicist Jennifer Abel in August 2024, at a time when Baldoni first started facing accusations of 'difficult' behaviour on the It Ends With Us set.
The messages also saw both Jamil and Abel poke fun at the backlash Lively faced for her 'tone-deaf' promotion of the film, after fans complained she made light of the film's serious message about domestic violence.
Among the eight pages of messages between Jamil and Abel was an exchange showing the pair reacting to a TikTok video involving Blake.
Abel said: 'I want to officially incorporate nightmare c**t and demon c**t into my vocabulary; UNBELIEVABLE; She's doing this to herself.'
Jamil responded: 'She's a suicide bomber at this point.'
The pair continued their conversation by discussing allegations of Baldoni's on-set behaviour, as at the time sources had told the Daily Mail the actor was 'chauvinistic' and 'borderline abusive'.
Jamil noted: 'At least borderline abusive is out there so she can't go in with predator.'
The court documents include messages between Jamil and Justin's publicist Abel in August 2024, where they also poke fun at Livley's tone-deaf promotion of It Ends With Us
Hours later, Jamil noted that Lively had shared a link to a domestic violence hotline, as well as statistics relating to abuse in the United States.
At the time Lively was blasted for her 'tone-deaf' and 'shallow' promotion of It Ends With Us, as she brushed off the film's serious theme to focus largely on the film's flowery, romantic elements as well as her own creative involvement.
Jamil wrote: 'Did you see Blake post that survivors link?; Dead.'
Abel replied: 'Oh yes, it's so sick.'
Jamil added: 'So cold; Just some stats and a link.'
Abel then jokingly responded 'I'm thinking about having Justin share it,' along with a wink emoji.
Jamil replied: 'Ahahaha no keep him away from her; keep him silence; Keep him in Sweden.'
'I hate her so much,' Abel replied, before Jamil added: 'So much; I've never seen such a bizarre villain act before; She's OVER over.'
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Jamil, Abel and Lively for comment.
Ryan Reynolds's 'cringe' email
Ryan Reynolds has been roasted by fans over the 'cringe' email he wrote to It Ends With Us author Colleen Hoover
Ryan Reynolds has been roasted by fans over the 'cringe' email he wrote to It Ends With Us author Colleen Hoover.
According to the exhibits obtained by the Daily Mail, Reynolds allegedly sent the email to Hoover just one day after the film's August 10, 2024, premiere, boasting about the movie being a 'complete f*****g WIN'.
He also seemingly mocked Baldoni, whom he called a 'dumb-dumb' in other unsealed correspondence, writing, 'I heard you guys got a tummy bug and you're stuck in NY. I can't think of anything worse. Although it might be your body ridding itself of any residual Baldoni.
'I'd rather be puking in a gulag than hijacking performative feminism while practicing personal growth catchphrases in the mirror,' he added.
The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Reynolds and Baldoni but has yet to hear back.
'I know the road isn't always easy or clear. When you're a creator and apex storyteller like you, I can imagine it takes a very resolute mind and heart to process all the strange people with muddled intentions trying to warm their hands on your light,' the actor wrote.
He further gushed: 'Holy f***ity f**. You guys really pulled it off. Like ... Colleen .. . this thing is on fire everywhere. And audiences have wrapped both arms around the film.
'You and B made something gorgeous out of ingredients you didn't ask for. Which is what makes you both (and this whole post production team) so clutch.'
Reynolds allegedly sent the email to Hoover just one day after the film's August 10, 2024, premiere, boasting about it being a 'complete f*****g WIN' while seemingly mocking Baldoni
The email went on, 'I know we all breathe rare air. I realize how lucky we are. But I also know how genuinely GOOD you and B are. And seeing good people put s****y people over their knee, for a good old fashioned, pants-down spanking in the supermarket is a special experience I don't take for granted.'
Scarlett Johansson's ex continued to praise the author and his wife, writing, 'I could literally write you 85 more paragraphs eulogizing what this all means to me. This whole team rallied and delivered. Even Sony stepped up in ways I never imagined. But mainly, I'm just incredibly proud and inspired by you and B.'
Ryan Reynolds called Baldoni a 'dumb-dumb'
Elsewhere in a series of text messages from Reynolds to agent Warren Zavala he called Baldoni a 'dumb-dumb', and said his wife was responsible for the box office success of It Ends With Us
In a series of unsealed text messages from Reynolds to agent Warren Zavala he called Baldoni a 'dumb-dumb', and said his wife was responsible for the box office success of It Ends With Us.
Reynolds complained about the actor-director and his associates not taking the public hit after initial reports of tension on the film set began to circulate.
'Baldoni and these other buckets of dumb-dumb-juice should be acknowledging the speculation and gossip themselves,' Reynolds said. 'They should be jumping in front of it in the most full throated, unqualified way. Now.'
In the exchange, Reynolds speculated on strategies to shield his wife from bad publicity, stating she 'should not be subjected to some eye-roll-y narrative of the "controlling b****"' amid early reports of dissension during production.
Reynolds said Baldoni and his team 'should be protecting' Lively, adding, 'They can and should accept the consequences of their actions and lean into the countless and willfully gross behavior before it leans into them.
'They made a big f***ing mess. Blake - under NO CIRCUMSTANCES - should be asked to clean up this sloppy, cliched f***storm.'
Reynolds said he was 'super frustrated because this is a moment in which Blake should be celebrating', as 'she made this unbelievable win happen'.
He added: 'She made this a win for Sony and by proxy, Wayfarer.'
Reynolds said that Lively 'f***ing refused to give up on the film' as she 'didn't sleep' and 'missed countless moments with her kids while sitting in edit rooms, scrapping and frame f***ing dailies for every square inch of quality'.
Reynolds also claimed that Baldoni had tension with others involved with the making of the motion picture.
'Every cast member and key crew member (including Colleen) won't be in the same room as the guy,' Reynolds wrote. 'All of them have at some point, over the last six months, unfollowed him on social media.'
Not one person has said Justin's name out loud in any interview at any time.'
Reynolds also put his comedic chops to work in crafting a hypothetical letter he felt Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath should have issued publicly to take the early hit.
The parody letter read, 'Our behavior on the set of IEWU was abhorrent and not even close to standards and respect both Colleen Hoover and Blake Lively deserve.
'To say nothing of the entire cast and crew who bravely pushed their way through an unnecessarily challenging shoot.'
Reynolds said Baldoni and his camp should have told the public that they 'were working to better understand how we fostered a workplace environment so lacking boundaries, guardrails, respect and in many incidents, decency'.
'Our aim is take real accountability which extends beyond performative virtue signaling. The success of IEWU isn't because of our involvement. The film is succeeding in spite of it.'
The latest news in the case comes as the contentious legal battle between Lively and Baldoni has gone on more than a year.
Lively filed her lawsuit in December 2024, accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment, retaliatory conduct and intentional infliction of emotional distress, including claims of body shaming and attempts to damage her reputation.
Her suit also named several of Baldoni’s collaborators, including his company Wayfarer Studios, the studio’s CEO and financial backers, and PR personnel.
Baldoni previously sought $250million in damages from The New York Times over a report he said was defamatory, later adding it to a $400million suit filed in January 2025.
His lawsuit named Lively, her husband and her publicist Leslie Sloane, though the case was dismissed in June.
All parties have denied the allegations against them.
