Spartacus: House of Ashur arrived with a bang a little over two months ago, and the hit series shows no signs of slowing down. The Spartacus offshoot is a critical and streaming success following its impressive Rotten Tomatoes debut and subsequent dominance on streaming charts. The action thriller has wrestled its way into the top ten charts on streaming services where it's available, including Starz, Prime Video, MGM+, and Stan. This has made it one of the most popular shows in countries like the US, UK, Australia, and Germany. Led by Nick E. Tarabay, Spartacus: House of Ashur has not only proven itself but also revived a franchise that had not aired for 12 years.

The alt-history drama is created by Steven S. DeKnight, the creator of Spartacus. The series is neither a revival nor a reboot of the 2010 drama; instead, it pulls a neat Roman trick by drawing on the universe's lore to bring the Syrian villain Ashur to life. In this reality, Ashur never died at Mount Vesuvius; he helped the Roman government defeat Spartacus and his entourage. For his role in quelling the slave uprising, Ashur is made the dominus of his former house, the House of Batiatus. However, he finds that, just as in his former life as an enslaved man and gladiator, Rome's society and politics can be as ruthless as the games in the arena. Still, he is determined to make his mark and make a lot of money while at it.

What To Expect in the Next Episode of 'Spartacus: House of Ashur'

A brand-new episode will be released on Friday, January 23, after a two-week hiatus. In Spartacus: House of Ashur Season 1, Episode 8, "Horizons," the Ludus is back to its former self, but not everything is the same. Achilia (Tenika Davis) has made a breakthrough, but the animosity between her and the male gladiators persists. Overcome with jealousy, they aim to render her useless by reopening the wound on her hand. Meanwhile, Ashur and Senator Gabinius (Andrew McFarlane) are slowly growing closer, but that bond is threatened by Ashur's lack of delivery. He changed the crowds' appetites but has not fed them more of their new obsession, Achilia.

Given how much he prides himself on being a great host and entertainer, Gabinius is not happy for more reasons than one. These games' primary reason is to pacify the crowds with cheap, base entertainment. What happens when he doesn't deliver? They grow restless. Finally, Korris (Graham McTavish) returns after suffering a massive loss, but nothing will ever be the same again. He must avenge Opiter's (Arlo Gibson) death to find peace.

Stream new episodes of Spartacus: House of Ashur on Fridays on Starz in the US. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
