After 10 long years of eager anticipation, fans of Tom Hiddleston's high-stakes spy thriller are beyond delighted about its return. The Night Manager originally aired its first season from February 21 to March 27, 2016, on BBC One in the UK before arriving in the US on AMC, airing from April 19 to May 24 24 2016. Now this week, the hit show returned with its sophomore season after already debuting in the UK at the start of the New Year.

With Season 2 of The Night Manager in progress, director Georgi Banks-Davies shared an update on the show's future, suggesting that the second chapter is far from the conclusion, as there are no plans to end Jonathan Pine's (Hiddleston) journey. According to Banks-Davies, a third season is already in the works, as she said:

"There was a third season that was always in the offing. David [Farr] is writing it now — he's at the coalface and in the early stage. But yeah, when the second season came, the plan was to go to three. So, when you see our whole series, you'll see it can sit entirely alone but can also sit very much as the second book in the trilogy."

For those who have no idea what The Night Manager is about, the British thriller is based on John le Carré's novel of the same name and follows the work of former British soldier Jonathan Pine. In Season 2, Pine is still in the spy game, but now under a different alias, Alex Goodwin, and he's in charge of overseeing a London operation where he can gather intelligence on high-profile criminals. Unsurprisingly, things quickly go sideways, and he's soon attempting to infiltrate a Colombian arms cartel, but now under orders from a post-Brexit UK, where questions of national identity and who's working for whom arise.

In addition to Hiddleston, Olivia Colman returns in The Night Manager's new season as intelligence officer Angela Burr. Also starring are Alistair Petrie as Alexander "Sandy" Langbourne; Douglas Hodge as Rex Mayhew; Michael Nardone as Frisky; and Noah Jupe as Danny "Daniel" Roper. Other stars attached include Diego Calva, Camila Morrone, Indira Varma, Paul Chahidi, and Hayley Squires. Season 1 starred Hiddleston, Colman, Hugh Laurie, Tom Hollander, David Harewood and Elizabeth Debicki.
