EXCLUSIVE: Filming has wrapped in Israel on Tankistas: Wild Company, the feature about the all-female tank unit which fought on October 7.

Above and below are first-look images from the movie which stars Swell Ariel Or (Beauty Queen of Jerusalem) as the unit’s captain, who in the absence of central command took it upon herself to lead three armored vehicles and engage Hamas militants in a battle that lasted more than 17 hours.

The film will also explore the founding of the unit and the struggles the young women combatants faced in order to prove themselves and be taken seriously amid skepticism and discrimination from male counterparts. Mixed gender fighting units in Israel have previously been the subject of controversy among some politicians and military.

Bleiberg Entertainment is producing and will have promo footage at upcoming European Film Market in Berlin. Ayelet Menahemi (Seven Blessings) is directing Eleanor Sela’s (Seven Blessings) script.

Other cast includes Perah Bar Miniely (False Flag) and first-timer Bar Assraf who served as a tank-gunner in the actual unit the film is inspired by and who fought on October 7th. Yarden Toussia-Cohen (Tehran) plays the unit’s Battalion Commander.

Bleiberg produced with United King. Ehud Bleiberg and Ronen Ben Tal serve as producers. Executive producers are Ariel Bleiberg, Eleanor Sela, Moshe and Leon Edery, Sam Gonen, Jeff Pink and Murray and Eli Lipnik.
