Now that 2025 is in the rear-view window, it's time to start looking back at how everything went. From the AAA standpoint, we got some heavy-hitters, but indie games really helped pad the year out, especially on Steam.

In fact, over on Steam, you can pick up one of 2025's most overlooked titles now. There's no catch either, as it's absolutely free.

Poco Is One Of 2025's Most Overlooked Games

It's Easy To Miss, 2025 Was Packed

Poco Fish Shack Water

Even if you're not a fan of adventure games, you may want to check out Poco. It's better to talk about the game in context with its premise: "Poco is the story of the world's smallest clown, who is banished from the circus and finds themself in a mysterious undergrowth full of lost and broken things. Explore, meet strange creatures, solve puzzles, and help Poco return to the circus in this charming 2D/3D hybrid point-and-click adventure."

Based on the rapturous reception, fans are already asking for more Poco games, as the inaugural title is currently sitting on an "overwhelmingly positive" set of reviews on Steam. The vast majority of players are enjoying the charming visuals, but the point-and-click aspects are getting praise, too. The shorter length is definitely a plus, with reviewers noting that it only takes an hour and a half to finish, and doesn't waste your time in the process.

For me, it reminds me of Machinarium, which is a compliment. Machinarium is a 2009 point-and-click modern classic, with a fantastic art style that still stands out. It's wild that Poco can hit some of those same notes, but for a completely free game.

It's Completely Free On Steam

No Strings Attached

Poco Wasteland Area

Steam did not slouch in terms of its free offerings in 2025, and that includes Poco. Developed by Whalefall, the game is completely free, but if you enjoy it, you can shell out $0.99 for the soundtrack as a "tip" of sorts. A donation button can also be found in-game.

By and large, the fan reaction to this game is mostly "how is this free?" It's a rare sight when an entire game, top to bottom, is free with no strings attached. It's not a free-to-play title or a "taster/prologue" for something; you just get the entire package by clicking "add to library" on Steam. If you're at all curious, go ahead and do that now.

As we barrel into 2026, it'll be fascinating to see what Steam brings to the table. Valve is gearing up for the launch of its new Steam Machine iteration, and we'll likely see another model for the Steam Deck. The portable gaming scene in particular is going to heat up.
