Sarah Murdoch and Pia Whitesell lead the glamorous celebrity arrivals at the Australian Open as the tennis event boasts its most A-list guest list ever

The Australian Open has been absolutely heaving with celebrities this year, as the prestigious tennis event attracts A-listers from around the globe. 

Leading the charge in Melbourne on Sunday was Pia Whitesell, who left her American talent agent husband Patrick Whitesell at home, but brought her son, Isaiah Loyola. 

The actress stunned in an upmarket ensemble, including a checked jacket over a fitted deep brown top. 

She added a pair of wide-leg trousers in a soft beige tone, as well as strappy black heels. 

Her strapping 22-year-old son matched his mum in an all-beige ensemble consisting of a dress shirt and cotton trousers. 

Also turning heads was Sarah Murdoch, who cut a casual figure in a blue polo worn over a plain, white T-shirt. 

The model and television host, whose husband is Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch, added a pair of grey trousers and carried a Prada purse in a deep brown. 

Aussie actress Sarah Snook made it a date night with her husband Dave Lawson on her arm. 

The Succession star looked chic in a cream, pin-striped blazer and matching trousers worn with cowboy boots. 

Sarah's actor husband was dapper in a classic black suit worn without a tie and with a partially unbuttoned white dress shirt.

Liam Hemsworth and Gabriella Brooks also stepped out together at the Australian Open in Melbourne, after their engagement was revealed. 

The Australian actor and his model fiancée attended an A-list dinner at the Ralph Lauren Private Hospitality Suite on Sunday. 

Gabriella had her massive diamond ring on display as she posed alongside her hunky husband-to-be. 

She chose a navy blue ensemble that included a smart blazer with gold buttons, worn over a V-neck top in the same tone. 

The jacket also matched the beauty's shorts, which ensured that her trim pins were on show. 

The stunner finished her look with a pair of black heels with micro straps, and largely skipped the accessories but for her diamond ring.

Liam matched his fiancée, also sporting navy blue, including a cropped jacket over a fitted T-shirt. 

The Hunger Games star added a pair of cotton trousers and dark brown, suede loafers. 

Rachael Griffiths was a lady in white on the night, with the Australian actress opting for a lightweight look in a midi skirt and tucked-in dress shirt. 

She added some finishing touches with a brown, felt hat and heavy freshwater pearl necklace, as well as wearing pointed patent heels. 

Aussie actor Simon Baker likewise stepped out for the event, looking handsome in a dark blue blazer, unbutton white dress shirt and forest green trousers. 

Joel Edgerton was also feeling green, with the Aussie actor choosing a forest-toned suede jacket with beige trousers while shielding his face with sunglasses.

Model Bambi Northwood Blyth cut a high fashion figure in a crochet, semi-sheer top and matching skirt that showed off hints of skin. 

Actress Rebekah Behbahani turned heads in a black lace mini dress with a floral motif as she posed alongside her Aussie billionaire businessman partner Alex Waislitz.  

Invisible Boys actor Joseph Zada opted for a very fashion-forward look as he posed up a storm at the Ralph Lauren suite in distressed trousers and a pastel wool vest. 

While the arrivals were laden with big names, so were the stands, as a slew of celebs took their seats to enjoy the matches on show. 

Pub empire billionaire Justin Hemmes was focussed on the game as he sat beside his girlfriend, model Madeline Holtznagel, to watch Novak Djokovic play against Carlos Alcaraz. 

Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates was at the same match, sitting beside his girlfriend Paula Hurd. 

Sarah shared a laugh with Liam and Gabriella, while tennis champion Jennifer Capriati enjoyed being a spectator rather than a player.

The stage was as impressive as the stands, with British pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor performing on Rod Laver Arena before the Men's Singles Final. 

Australian Idol star Paulini performed the national anthem of Australia prior to the match. 

The rich and famous have been flooding through the event for the past fortnight - and forking out big bucks for the privilege.  

On-court seating at Rod Laver Arena can run as high as $20,000, with the popular spots already sold out.

Celebrities seen in that section include Australian AFL WAG Bec Judd, Scottish actor Gerard Butler and Jaggad co-founder Michele Greene.

Other stars turning up at the tennis over the last few weeks include American actress Chloë Grace Moretz, K-pop star BamBam and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. 

Also attending were TV star Carrie Bickmore, Balinese princess Lindy Klim and Aussie singer Delta Goodrem.
