With almost exactly one month until the premiere of Season 2, Prime Video is officially ramping up marketing for its hit detective series. Prime Video has released the first official trailer for Cross Season 2, the thrilling series starring Aldis Hodge that will return to streaming on February 11. In addition to Hodge returning to star in the titular role of Alex Cross, Isaiah Mustafa, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Juanita Jennings, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, and Johnny Ray Gill will also be back in Cross Season 2. Newcomers include Matthew Lillard, Jeanine Mason, and Wes Chatham.

Prime Video’s beloved procedural series follows Alex Cross (Hodge), a brilliant homicide detective and forensic psychologist, uniquely capable of digging into the minds of murderers in order to identify and catch them. In Season 2, Cross is in pursuit of a ruthless vigilante who is hunting down corrupt billionaire magnates. Not only does Aldis Hodge star in the leading role in Cross, he also executive produces the series along with creator and showrunner Ben Watkins. The series is based on the popular series of novels by author James Patterson, which was previously adapted by other stars like Morgan Freeman.

Cross star Aldis Hodge is on the up and up after several big roles in the last few years. Before Cross, he teamed up with Dwayne Johnson for Black Adam, the critically panned DC superhero movie. Hodge has admitted he’s open to reprising the role though he admits he hasn’t been asked. He’s also soon to star in Road House 2, the sequel to Jake Gyllenhaal’s 2024 action remake that’s due to begin filming soon.

Has ‘Cross’ Been Renewed for Season 3?

Prime Video has yet to decide the fate of Cross beyond Season 2, and this announcement likely won’t be made until closer to the end of Season 2, maybe even after it’s over. The first season was a smash hit for Prime Video, which made its renewal a no-brainer, and this happened despite something of a mixed reception. It often takes shows a season or two to find their legs, which makes it all the more frustrating when they’re canceled after only one season. Prime Video could have another flagship property on its hands with Cross, especially as more and more stars join the show in seasons to come.
