The original all-British Broadway cast of the lauded musical Operation Mincemeat will play its final performance at the Sunday, February 22, matinee, with an all-American cast taking over at the Golden Theatre on Tuesday, February 24 as the show begins its second year.

Originally announced as a 16-week Broadway engagement on Broadway, Operation Mincemeat began previews on February 15, 2025, with an official opening on March 20 that year. The production was extended an unprecedented six times by popular demand and will now be on Broadway through July 5, (at least for now). The musical is the second longest-running production at the Shubert Organization’s Golden Theatre after the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Avenue Q.

Since its inception in London to now, the current cast – Tony Award winner Jak Malone, David Cumming, Natasha Hodgson, Zoë Roberts and Claire-Marie Hall – have played more than 1,000 performances of the musical. A London West End production is currently in its third year.

Additional details about the new American cast will be announced soon.

Beginning March 22, Wednesday evening performances of the Broadway production will be replaced by Sunday evening performances.

The synopsis: In Operation Mincemeat, it’s 1943, and the Allied Forces are on the ropes. Luckily, they’ve got a trick up their sleeve. Well, not up their sleeve, per se, but rather inside the pocket of a stolen corpse. Equal parts farce, thriller, and Ian Fleming-style spy caper (with an assist from Mr. Fleming himself), Operation Mincemeat tells the wildly improbable and hilarious true story of the covert operation that turned the tide of WWII.

Operation Mincemeat features a book and score by SpitLip (Natasha Hodson, David Cumming, Zoë Roberts, and Felix Hagan) and is directed by Robert Hastie.

Operation Mincemeat is produced on Broadway and in the West End by Avalon (in association with SpitLip).
