It's a great time for fans of fantasy comedies right now, with two recently released movies finding their audience on streaming. Both Eternity and Good Fortune sort of slipped under the radar during their theatrical runs at the end of 2025, although one of them was a clear hit. Starring Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller, and Callum Turner, Eternity grossed over $30 million at the global box office, against a reported budget of $12 million. The movie holds a stellar 91% audience score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, which explains why it's doing so well on PVOD. However, Good Fortune couldn't recover its reported $30 million budget, despite earning a "certified fresh" 78% score on RT. It seems to be redeeming itself on PVOD platforms, as it jostles for space with Eternity.

Directed by David Freyne, Eternity followed a woman who is forced to choose between her deceased first husband and her current husband after they all meet in limbo before entering the afterlife. Good Fortune, which marked the feature directorial debut of comedian and actor Aziz Ansari, follows an angel who tries teaching an ungrateful man a lesson. The movie stars Keanu Reeves as the angel, alongside Ansari, Seth Rogen, Sandra Oh, and Keke Palmer. Ansari was supposed to make his directorial debut a couple of years ago, but the project was abruptly canceled mid-shoot after allegations of inappropriate behavior were made against star Bill Murray. Good Fortune was released in October, and ended up grossing $26 million globally.

'Good Fortune' Earned Positive Reactions from the Audience

According to FlixPatrol, it was among the most-watched movies on the Amazon and Apple charts this week, when the leader boards were topped by Predator: Badlands. In addition to its 78% critics' score, Good Fortune earned an 80% audience score on RT. In his review, Collider's Joe Schmidt described the movie as "a humorous take on familiar concepts buoyed by some amazing performances." Before appearing in Good Fortune, Rogen co-created, co-directed, and starred in one of the year's top-rated comedy shows, The Studio. Palmer, on the other hand, starred in one of the biggest comedy hits of the year, One of them Days. Ansari broke out as a filmmaker with the acclaimed Netflix series Master of None.
