Britta DeVore is a Senior Author for Collider who has been known to dabble with Reality News as well.

Have you seen stories about 'Chucky,' 'Scream,' 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer,' 'The Boys,' 'Vanderpump Rules,' or any of 'The Real Housewives' franchises? That's probably a Britta DeVore-curated piece of art, and it sounds like you have great taste.

When she isn't sitting behind her laptop bringing readers her hot takes on upcoming projects or keeping the dream alive in the Senior News team, Britta can usually be found outside hiking or inside behind her drum set. She currently plays in two bands, Kid Midnight and Watergate, both based in Brooklyn. An obsessive traveler, Britta loves long road trips to the South West and has a soft spot in her heart for canyons, rivers, and forests.

She also has a tiny cat named Athena that she loves more than anything else in the world and is always happy for new brewery recs.

Family dynamics have long served as a source of inspiration for filmmakers to reach out and grab audiences, but Jimpa, the latest project to hail from Sophie Hyde (Good Luck To You, Leo Grande), immediately proves itself to be something unique and different. Today, we at Collider are thrilled to exclusively share the official trailer with our readers, in a movie about generational forgiveness and staying true to oneself even when the rest of the world attempts to crush your individuality. Starring Olivia Colman (The Roses) and John Lithgow (The Rule of Jenny Pen), the title is slated to celebrate its arrival in select cinemas on February 6.

Serving as a semi-autobiographical tale about Hyde’s life, Jimpa follows closely with filmmaker Hannah (Colman), as she weaves a tale about her early years with her family, during which her father, Jim (Lithgow), leaves his loved ones behind in Adelaide in hopes of laying his roots somewhere more accepting and inviting. Years later, Hannah takes her trans-nonbinary teenager, Frances (Aud Mason-Hyde), to Amsterdam to visit Jim — who is known by the family now as Jimpa. Immediately clicking with their maternal grandfather, Frances asks Hannah if they can stay in Amsterdam, which dredges up plenty of complicated feelings, memories, and worries for Hannah. With Frances’ decision, both Jimpa and Hannah are forced to confront their past, present, and future and better understand the decisions that made them the people they became.

In addition to the leading trio, the film also features performances from Bryn Chapman Parish (Heartbreak High), Eamon Farren (The Witcher), Kate Box (Deadloch), Deborah Kennedy (The Sum of Us), Hans Kesting (Ares), Daniel Henshall (The Babadook) and Cody Fern (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story). In addition to directing the heartfelt family-centered production, Hyde also co-penned the screenplay alongside Matthew Cormack (The Hunting).

What Else Is on the Way for Olivia Colman and John Lithgow?

In addition to Jimpa, Colman recently rounded out 2025 with her work opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in Jay Roach’s dark black comedy, The Roses, and heads into the New Year with audiences awaiting more word surrounding Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson’s Wicker, which will also feature Peter Dinklage and Elizabeth Debicki. Meanwhile, Lithgow is slated to take over one of the most beloved characters in fantasy when he appears in HBO’s Harry Potter series as Albus Dumbledore, which is slated for an arrival in 2027.

Check out our exclusive first look at the trailer for Jimpa above and see it in select cinemas on February 6.
