Selahattin Paşalı and Eylül Lize Kandemir share a moment from across the street in a first-look clip at Netflix‘s latest Turkish mini-series, Museum of Innocence.
The clip sees Kemal (Paşalı) and Füsun (Kandemir) walking on opposite sides of a busy Istanbul street in the 1970s. Initially the looks are longing and connected, but they phase in and out of confusion and concern before they part ways down different sides of an adjoining road.
Netflix released the clip as it announced a February 13 launch for the nine-episode drama series, which is adapted from Nobel Prize-winning author Orhan Pamuk’s multimillion-selling novel. The show shares its name with both the book and an Istanbul museum that Pamuk created.
Museum of Innocence is billed as a “multi-layered narrative of love, happiness, obsession, longing, and missed opportunities” and depicts the turbulent relationship between Kemal, the son of a wealthy family, and Füsun, his poor and distant relative. Willing to take on the world for the sake of his feelings for her, Kemal begins collecting her earrings, hair clips and even her discarded cigarette butts – posing the question of what shape his love takes.
Cast alongside Paşalı and Kandemir are Oya Unustası, Tilbe Saran, Bülent Emin Yarar, Gülçin Kültür Şahin, Ercan Kesal, Hasan Erdem, Zeynep Dinsel, Tolga İskit, Onur Ünsal, Jessica Taşçı, Enes Danış, Eren Kabatepe, Aybike Turan, Tayfun Gül, Cem Bayurgil, Tugay Erdoğan, Ahmet Yalçın, İskender Bağcılar, Neslihan Arslan, Bora Akın and Cansel Elçin.
Pamuk is the writer, with Ertan Kurtulan the series’ screenwriter. Zeynep Günay is the director and Kerem Çatay the producer. Ay Yapim is attached as the production house.
