Marvel Rivals’ Season 6 Battle Pass Breaks Tradition For The First Time In The Game’s History

Jared is a writer, editor, and Communications Studies graduate who loves popular nerd culture (almost anything to do with Marvel, DC, Star Wars, or The Lord of the Rings) and the interactive storytelling medium. Jared's first console was the PS1, wherein he fell for Spider-Man, Spyro the Dragon, and Crash Bandicoot.

Marvel Rivals Season 6.0 is out now, with its plethora of battle pass pages available to peruse and progress through. Of course, Marvel Rivals’ Deadpool, complete with a hybrid gameplay kit that allows Wade Wilson to swap between class roles, is undoubtedly the climax of Season 6.0.

However, this Museum Ticket battle and the disparity it features in its distribution of skins is impossible to ignore: only one Vanguard skin is afforded. It’s doubly alarming, too, because this is the first time since launch that a Marvel Rivals role hasn’t been represented by at least two skins in a battle pass.

Marvel Rivals’ Season 0 battle pass, Chronovium, doesn’t count, since it was shorter and the game’s first season at launch before it grew into what would become its old, lengthier seasonal structure.

Marvel Rivals’ Season 6 Battle Pass Leaves Vanguards In The Dust

Marvel Rivals’ Museum Ticket battle pass contains the following number of skins for each role: a whopping 7 skins for Duelists, 2 skins for Strategists (as is usually the case, unfortunately), and a lowly 1 skin for Vanguards. Like Strategists, Vanguards typically have two skins, meaning that fortune clearly hasn’t favored tank mains in Museum Ticket.

Venom is the single Vanguard treated to a battle pass skin in Museum Ticket. Easily his oddest and most bewildering skin, the Space Corsair costume is accessible as early as the first page when players purchase the ‘luxury’ edition of the battle pass.

Duelist skins greatly outnumber Strategist and Vanguard skins in a battle pass anyway, yet to only have one Vanguard skin would be preposterous, if not for how many Marvel Rivals Vanguard skins will be arriving later in the season.

Vanguards Get A Lot Of Love In Season 6’s Roadmap

Thankfully, while the battle pass is lacking in terms of new Vanguard skins, Marvel Rivals’ Store will have new Vanguard skins peppered throughout the first half of the season, as depicted in the Season 6.0 roadmap:

  • Venom received a Marvel Cosmic Invasion-inspired skin on January 16, alongside the launch of Season 6.0 and the Museum Ticket battle pass.
  • Thor receives a Disco Revolution skin on January 23.
  • Angela and Emma Frost both receive Trumps of the Grandmaster skins on January 30.
  • Groot receives a Mecha Flora skin, and Magneto receives a Quiet Council of Krakoa skin on February 2.

So, to say Vanguards are completely back-burned in this season of Marvel Rivals would be false. Still, the skins listed above must all be individually purchased (or purchased by the bundle), either by spending real money on Lattice and converting that to Units, or by unlocking them via Units that players have already accumulated. Meanwhile, players who purchase the battle pass have access to 10 skins once they’ve progressed through each page with the required number of Marvel Rivals’ Chrono Tokens earned in-game.
