A cinematic obsessive with the filmic palate of a starving raccoon, Rob London will watch pretty much anything once. With a mind like a steel trap, he's an endless fount of movie and TV trivia, borne from a misspent youth of watching monster movies on TV, perusing the sun-faded goods at the local video rental shop, and staining his fingers with ink from the Video Movie Guide. Areas of interest include science fiction, film noir, horror flicks, '70s disaster pictures, Bond movies, '90s action, giant robots, dinosaurs, super heroes, and the exuberantly schlocky output of Cannon Films. He also enjoys both Star Trek and Star Wars when they're good, and maybe even more when they're bad. As a Canadian, he also has a vested interest in Canadian movies and TV shows, especially the cheesier ones dubbed "Canuxploitation."

An expert on Marvel Comics, he has also written for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, and is a member of the Marvel Research Team. He can frequently be found pontificating on comic-book continuity or bemoaning the misfortunes of the Toronto Maple Leafs on his Twitter account.

Justin Long and Jermaine Fowler play a pair of LA cops who get tangled up with a horror beyond imagination in the new supernatural thriller Night Patrol. Collider has an exclusive sneak peek of the movie to whet your appetite before it hits theaters next week. Night Patrol will debut on January 16, 2026. In our sneak peek, gang member turned cop Xavier Carr (Fowler, Crutch) and buzz-cut hard-ass Ethan Hayworth (Long, Barbarian) are LAPD partners. They stop for lunch at a taco stand, and while they discuss Fowler's questionable command of Spanish and the proprietors' stingy allocation of salsa, what Long really wants to know about "Cripboi," an alleged member of the Crips gang who's wanted for questioning by the police...and specifically by an elite anti-gang unit, the titular Night Patrol, which has just recruited Hayworth.

It just so happens that Carr is from the area, and his younger brother used to use "Cripboi" as his gaming handle. Although Hayworth tries to turn the discussion to the allegedly disgusting tortas (which he nevertheless claims Carr wants more of), it's clear that Carr is concerned about his brother. As the film unfolds, Carr will have to make the local gangs put aside their differences before they're all doomed by the nightmarish secret of the Night Patrol. What is that secret? Let's just say that Night Patrol's political and racial commentary will be seasoned with a very healthy helping of gore.

Who Else Stars in 'Night Patrol'?

Besides Long and Fowler, Night Patrol boasts an eclectic cast. Starring as members of the Night Patrol are professional wrestler Phil "CM Punk" Brooks (Revival), Dermot Mulroney (Scream VI), and Jon Oswald (Off Ramp). Carr's brother will be played by RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), while Nicki Micheaux (NCIS: Los Angeles) will play their mother. Meanwhile, the local gang members who must unite against the Night Patrol will be played by musicians Freddie Gibbs (Power Book IV: Force), YG (White Boy Rick), and Flying Lotus (Ash).

Night Patrol was directed by Ryan Prows; it is his sophomore feature, after he made his directorial debut with the blackly comedic crime thriller Lowlife in 2017. Prows also co-wrote Night Patrol with Lowlife collaborators Shaye Ogbonna, Tim Cairo, and Jake Gibson. Night Patrol is distributed by RLJE Films and Shudder.

Night Patrol will premiere in theaters on January 16, 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
