SAG-AFTRA said Monday that nominations for the newly monikered Actor Awards will be revealed Wednesday by Abbott Elementary star Janelle James and Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie.
The noms announcement will take place at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on Netflix’s YouTube channel. After a final voting period that runs January 14-February 27, Netflix will stream the winners ceremony live on Sunday, March 1 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
Today’s news comes after the Actor Awards said last month that Harrison Ford will receive the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award, the guild’s highest honor recognizing career and humanitarian accomplishments. That honor will be bestowed during the March 1 ceremony.
A year ago, Conclave won the marquee movie Ensemble trophy at the then-named SAG Awards, while drama Shōgun and comedy Only Murders in the Building won the TV side top honors. Among the individual winners was Timothée Chalamet (Best Actor for A Complete Unknown); he’s likely to be in the mix this year as well for Marty Supreme, after he won the Best Actor honor at Sunday’s Critics Choice Awards.
James has been nominated for four Emmys for playing Ava Coleman on Abbott Elementary, and was part of the cast that won the SAG Awards’ ensemble prize for the comedy in 2022. She is coming off a win Sunday at Critics Choice, and previously won a NAACP Image Award for the role.
Storrie is breaking out this year in Crave/HBO Max’s Heated Rivalry. He plays Ilya Rozanov opposite Hudson Williams’ Shane Hollander in the LGBTQ hockey drama about rival pro hockey stars who secretly develop a romantic relationship. The series wrapped its first season in December, and it has already been renewed for Season 2.
