Exactly how big is GTA 6 going to be? It's a question that's been on the minds of gamers since even before the sequel to GTA 5 was officially announced, and with every new leaked detail or snippet of footage, the picture becomes clearer: this game is going to be huge.

It feels silly to describe GTA 6's second trailer as the "latest" trailer for the game, given it was released way back in May 2025, but it technically is the latest. No wonder gamers are losing their minds, right? Anyway, because fans have had nothing but this trailer to obsess over for the last eight months, they've picked out all sorts of awesome details, including a much better understanding of the game's overall size.

GTA 6's Map Size Is Staggering

I genuinely don't know where to start

“The draw distance is INSANE,” Reddit user Zairy47 pointed out in a post. “Usually, far away models are reduced to low polygon and no shadows, but here we can see fairly detailed objects, like cars, traffic signs and lamp poles.”

“Incredible. I think this game is going to blow us all away when we land in Vice City,” replied eshields99.

GTA 6's second trailer has also helped inform the ongoing, and incredibly impressive, mapping project that fans have been working on since the very first leaks. For those not aware, a group of dedicated fans have pored over every leaked and confirmed detail to put together their best approximation of the GTA 6 map, and it's looking mighty impressive. In fact, some believe the game's map could be more than twice the size of GTA 5's Los Santos, which wasn't exactly small.

"I calculated that the GTA 6 map size is 2.16x larger than GTA 5 map," one gamer explained on Reddit after closing examining the latest GTA 6 mapping projects.

Rockstar Will Never Please Everyone

That's just the way of it

The size of GTA 6's map is a topic of constant discussion, and it's clear Rockstar isn't going to be able to please everyone. Some players argue a huge map could end up leading to too large of an open world, while others are already fretting the game won't be big enough to keep players invested for the next however-many years.

What we know for sure is that GTA 6's map will be absolutely packed with detail. Think about just how engaging and immersive Red Dead Redemption 2 was. Consider every unique encounter and secret you found while playing that game. Now imagine what Rockstar can do with that technology in a modern-day setting. Yeah, I think we'll be just fine.
