The next official release date update for Grand Theft Auto 6 has been confirmed, and it's fair to say fans aren't quite sure what to make of the whole situation. We've waited so long for GTA 6 at this point that I think we all know the November 2026 release date definitely isn't guaranteed, but any update at this stage is a welcome one.

If you've been keeping track, you'll know GTA 6 has had two public delays so far. It was originally moved from its 2025 release window (what an optimistic time that was) to May 2026. It was then announced towards the end of last year that it would be releasing November 19, 2026.

Stay positive if you can

So why are we so sure a release date update is coming? Easy: Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive has scheduled an earnings call for February 3.

Now, I want to set some expectations here: these earnings calls are boring. They don't share any real information on GTA 6 or pull out a surprise trailer. What they will do, is confirm whether GTA 6 is still on track for November 19, which at this point is, I think, the only update any of us really wants. Actually, I wouldn't mind a gameplay trailer now that I think about it. But one thing at a time.

I should also stress that while Take-Two Interactive telling us GTA 6 is on track is a good sign, it's not complete and total confirmation that the game won't be delayed again. Ultimately, it's in Rockstar's hands to delay, and that's a decision that could be made at a point after this earnings call takes place.

Will GTA 6 Hit Its Planned Release Date?

We can only hope

At this stage, all we can do is assume (and hope) things are going to plan. Red Dead Redemption 2 was only publicly delayed twice, and by all accounts it would appear the November 19 release date is the one to hit. Although reports suggest the road to get there certainly hasn't been easy for the staff at Rockstar.

Fans are definitely on edge, with one Reddit user arguing the May earnings call is likely where a delay would be confirmed. Gotta love that optimism.

Another wrote: "I think the only 'news' we'll get, is that Rockstar are certain they'll hit the release date and that the expected sales figures are high and other capitalist jargon that doesn't mean anything to us."

"The never-ending dissapointment cycle," another added.

GTA 6 fans have certainly been put through the wringer over the last 3–4 years, but let's do everything we can to stay positive as we edge towards November. And if the game does end up getting delayed one more time? I think I'll probably go ahead and turn off my internet for a few weeks.
