Fearne Cotton was forced to explain why she is eating cheese and eggs again as she revealed she has angered vegan fans amid her ex-husband Jesse Wood's unemployment claims.

The broadcaster and author, 44, is a big advocate for plant-based eating and authored the popular cookbook Happy Vegan - but she has began 'infrequently' introducing cheese and eggs back into her diet.

Fearne said fellow vegans are 'f***** off' with her about it and while she 'gets it', she has now revealed the real reason she has made the transition.

Speaking to camera on Instagram on Friday, Fearne shared that she needs to remain flexible with food due to suffering from a 'severe' eating disorder in her twenties.

Fearne said: 'Now this video is very much contradicting the whole post I did about my new book likeable and not caring whether people like me or not but, and there's obviously a need for me to stop explaining myself, but I'm a work in progress so here goes.

'Some people, and I totally get it, vegans out there are f***** off that I'm eating eggs and cheese again.

'I mean I am going to explain myself, I eat them infrequently, I eat still mainly a plant-based diet. It's more like if I'm out or when I was in Spain last summer.'

She continued: 'And also as someone who had a pretty severe eating disorder in my 20s I have to remain flexible with food. That is a big one for me so that I don't become too regimented.

'So although it doesn't matter really whether people like that I'm vegan or not. I'm not in control of anyone else. I'm not in control of other vegans, meat eaters. I am just a single person doing my thing and as I said I will continue to eat mainly a plant-based diet.

'But yeah case in point that you cannot please everyone. You really can't. And not everyone's going to like you or your decisions and these are very healthy lessons for me to continue learning.'

It comes after her ex-husband Jesse revealed that since his split from Fearne Cotton he has been unemployed and living on barely £1,000 a month - as he appeared in court on speeding charges.

The musician, 49, is the son of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, who is worth £100million and himself lives in a £3million townhouse in Richmond.

But as he appeared in court on Thursday facing a possible driving ban, it emerged that since his split from TV presenter Fearne 13 months ago, he has struggled to find paid work and is now living off savings.

Jesse, who is dating former Made in Chelsea star Gemma Gregory, was summoned to Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court after he was clocked driving at 27mph in a 20mph zone in Earls Court, west London on April 7 last year.

This was because he had already clocked up three previous endorsements and so was facing a possible ban.

When he came to plead his case, the father of four gave JPs an extraordinary insight into his recent struggles to be solvent and find paid work.

Jesse, who shares two children with Ferne and two from a previous relationship, represented himself when he told the court, saying: ‘I was due to be employed in 2024 but it got delayed.

‘At the moment I'm living off my savings and I am looking to get employment.’

Asked about his income as recorded on his last year’s tax returns, he continued: ‘Yes. It was very low at around £14,000.’

Jesse also apologised to the court for having driven 7mph above the limit on the A4 Cromwell Road when he was caught for the fourth time.

He added: ‘I would like to say I accept responsibility for what I have done.’

Prosecutor Geraldine Dickinson earlier told the court: ‘This was at 12.45pm in the afternoon on April 7 last year. He used his vehicle on the A4 Cromwell Road which was subject to a 20mph speed restriction.
