Red, White & Royal Wedding, the sequel to Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video’s Red, White & Royal Blue, has entered production.

A cast has been collected, and the plot clarified, following various updates from Casey McQuiston, author of the foundational book of the same name, as well as the cast. The second installment was first announced in May.

When will the Red, White & Royal Blue sequel come out?

A release date is not yet known because the film is in the early days of production. The original film arrived July 22, 2023.

What is the Red, White & Royal Blue sequel about?

While the first film was adapted from Casey McQuiston’s best-selling novel, the second film didn’t have set source material. From the title — Red, White & Royal Wedding, which was revealed last October when the sequel film was officially greenlit — some thought maybe Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor Zakhar-Perez) and Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine) were the happy couple getting married.

A bonus chapter released in the collector’s edition of Red, White & Royal Blue revisits the fictional U.S. President’s son and “spare” to the throne engaged and planning their own wedding, but when the film started production, Zakhar-Perez noted that Bea’s wedding would be the center of the sequel.

Princess Beatrice is Henry’s younger sister, portrayed by Ellie Bamber in the first film. Bamber will reprise her role in the second movie.

Who else is in the cast of the Red, White & Royal Blue sequel?

Aside from Zakhar-Perez, Galitzine and Bamber, most of the original cast will be back together in Red, White & Royal Wedding with a few newcomers for the second film alone.

Uma Thurman (Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair) will return as Alex’s mom and President of the United States Ellen Claremont, and Clifton Collins Jr. (Jockey, Capote) will return as Alex’s father, First Gentleman of the United States Oscar Diaz.

Sarah Shahi (Paradise, Sex/Life) will return as Sahra Bankston, and Aneesh Sheth will reprise the role of Amy Gupta, security guard. Rachel Hilson will return as Alex’s best friend Nora Holleran, and Thomas Flynn will return as Prince Henry’s older brother Prince Philip.

Stephen Fry (The Morning Show, The Dropout) and Stephen Fry (The Morning Show, The Dropout) will also return.

Alex Høgh Andersen and Henry Ashton were the first pair of actors to join the sequel film. Deadline exclusively broke the news that Lena Headey and Chloe Fineman boarded Red, White & Royal Wedding as well.

Headey will play Princess Catherine, and Fineman’s role is being kept under wraps.

Who else is behind the Red, White & Royal Blue sequel?

Jamie Babbit will direct from a script written by Gemma Burgess, Matthew López and Red, White & Royal Blue author Casey McQuiston. López directed the original film adaptation.

Is there a book corresponding to the Red, White & Royal Blue sequel movie?

No sequel novel has been revealed, but as mentioned above, McQuiston is involved in writing the script for Red, White & Royal Wedding.
