Since breaking out into the world of entertainment through the hit MTV series, Teen Wolf, actor Dylan O’Brien has done everything in his power to set himself apart from being just a one-hit wonder. Jumping across genres and taking on emotionally devastating roles, the Deepwater Horizon and American Assassin star proves time and time again that he’s in it for the long haul. Following up his 2024 roles, which included a take on Dan Aykroyd in Jason Reitman’s Saturday Night, O’Brien dove back into his love of indie projects in 2025, which saw him work alongside filmmaker, producer, actor, and writer James Sweeney on the latter’s latest project, Twinless. Soon, audiences will be invited to welcome the Sundance Film Festival favorite into their living rooms when Twinless arrives on Hulu January 16.
Roman (O’Brien) is a man in mourning after the devastatingly tragic passing of his twin brother, Rocky. The surprising loss of his sibling and best friend has pushed Roman to the edge, with his support system of loved ones pleading for him to get help. Eventually, he finds his way to a twin-centered support group where others like him share their stories of love and loss in an attempt to move through the ever-flowing waves of grief that now consume their lives. It’s there that he meets Dennis (Sweeney), and the pair form a connection based on their loneliness and hatred of doing things alone. As their bond grows, Roman and Dennis highlight the parts that they’ve been missing during their grief, but one big secret threatens to destroy everything they’ve built.
In addition to O’Brien and Sweeney, Twinless features an ensemble with plenty of familiar faces, including Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls), Chris Perfetti (Abbott Elementary), Aisling Franciosi (Speak No Evil), Tasha Smith (Boston Common), Cree (Turtles All the Way Down), François Arnaud (Heated Rivalry), Katie Findlay (Walker: Independence) and Susan Park (Always Be My Maybe).
What’s Next for Dylan O’Brien?
In addition to Twinless, O’Brien joined yet another star-studded thriller last year through his work in Jan Komasa’s Anniversary, which also featured Diane Lane, Madeline Brewer, Zoey Deutch, and Kyle Chandler. Next, he’ll put his survival skills to the test alongside Rachel McAdams in Sam Raimi’s latest pulse-pounding survival horror flick, Send Help. Set for a cinematic arrival on January 30, the movie will follow an employee (McAdams) and her sexist boss (O’Brien), who are forced to work together for their joint survival after their plane crashes on a deserted island.
Head over to Hulu on January 16 to stream Twinless.
