Comedian Raanan Hershberg Sets Premiere Date For New Special ‘Morbidly Jewish’

Comedian Raanan Hershberg has locked in a premiere date for his latest hour, Morbidly Jewish: A New Special. The special will premiere on his YouTube channel at 8 p.m. EST on Thursday, January 15th.

Directed by Dave Hogsett, the special’s centerpiece is a discussion of a 2024 appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, in which he said he doesn’t believe in conspiracy theories, and the thousands of very angry comments he received in the afremath. Morbidly Jewish finds Raanan at his most biting, acerbic, angry, Jewish, and, as always…loud. Recorded at Sesh Comedy Club in Lower Manhattan last May, it’s an hour of comedy about hypocrisy, overthinking, certainty, and the anxiety of living in a world where everyone is confident and no one is correct.

A strong joke writer from Louisville, KY who’s now based in New York, Hershberg has been seen performing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Late Show with James Corden, After Midnight on CBS, Amazon and Comedy Central. Released with 800 Pound Gorilla in February 2025, his most recent hour, Brave, satirizes the political divide in America, while also exploring recent developments in Hershberg’s chaotic, personal life: his girlfriend (now wife) getting open heart surgery three months into their relationship, his overbearing Jewish mother, and conflating being loved with being trapped. Prior to Brave, the comic put out Jokes from the Underground, another lauded special filmed at the Comedy Cellar in New York, which he self-produced and has now reached nearly 200,000 views.

Last year, Hershberg co-wrote and co-directed the short film Memory Room, which won the grand prize at The New York Shorts Film Festival. Also the host of the movie podcast Your Favorite Movie Sucks, he is repped by Justin Silvera & Ian Arougheti at SA Entertainment Group.
