Canada’s long-running Yellowstone replacement series just got an exciting sneak peek ahead of the debut of its next season. Collider is happy to exclusively preview a new clip from Heartland Season 18, Episode 1, which shows Amy helping Nathan Pryce (Spencer Lord) with a sheepdog competition. At the same time, Heartland faces Pryce Beef competition and an impending water shortage, straining Lou, Jack, and Tim. Season 18, Episode 1, titled “True Grit,” will air on January 18 at 8 PM EST. The first 16 seasons of the show are streaming on Netflix, and the 17th season is available to watch on Prime Video via the Hallmark Channel.

The first three seasons of Heartland are also available to stream on Paramount+, and the first 11 seasons can be watched on Hulu. The show has released over 250 episodes so far, but the trio to feature in more than anyone else are Amber Marshall, Michelle Morgan, and Shaun Johnston, who star in the series as Amy and Lou Fleming, and Jack Bartlett, respectively. Other cast members include Chris Potter as Tim Fleming, Graham Wardle as Ty Borden, Alisha Newton as Georgie Fleming-Morris, Jessica Steen as Lisa Stillman, Kerry James as Caleb Odell, and Gabriel Hogan as Peter Morris.

Heartland was written and created for TV by Murray Shostak, who is best known for his work as a producer on other projects like Speed Zone, Maria Chapdelaine, Death Hunt, and The Selfish Giant. There have been nearly 30 scribes who have come and gone in the writers' room during the first 18 seasons of Heartland, and almost 40 directors during the same amount of time.

Is ‘Heartland’ Like ‘Yellowstone’?

Heartland has some similarities to Yellowstone, like a Western setting centered on a family that has a rural feel, but the shows are very different. Heartland is more family-friendly and focuses more on the relationships between characters in the show, while Yellowstone has a much larger spanning narrative with grapples for power and crime. Heartland might be the kind of show to sit down and watch with the family, but Yellowstone is what you turn on once the kids have gone to bed. Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan has released several spin-offs to the Western show, like 1923 and 1883, and more are on the way.

Check out the new sneak peek from Heartland Season 18, Episode 1 above and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the show.
