Avengers: Secret Wars Casting List Grows With Another Doomsday Star Confirmed To Return

The Avengers: Secret Wars cast continues to expand ahead of the Marvel Cinematic Universe film starting production. The Multiverse Saga is less than two years away from being over, with the next two Avengers films set to finish the major storyline.

In an interview with People, Simu Liu, who will reprise the role of Shang-Chi in Avengers: Doomsday, confirmed to the outlet that he will be back for Avengers: Secret Wars. In the interview, he stated the following:

Simu Liu: But I think the more immediate tease is of course, is [Avengers:] Doomsday,. Yeah, which comes out next year, which I was lucky enough to be a part of and will be lucky enough to be a part of its successor in Secret Wars.

The Avengers: Doomsday cast finished filming the big 2026 entry in September 2025. While additional photography will be taking place this spring, principal photography on Avengers: Secret Wars begins in the summer.

With Shang-Chi confirmed for the Avengers: Secret Wars cast, he is now joining a handful of confirmed stars. Robert Downey Jr., who will make his full Doctor Doom debut in Avengers: Doomsday, will be returning for the Phase 6 finale.

When speaking to ScreenRant's Liam Crowley in December 2025, Letitia Wright confirmed that Shuri, a.k.a. Black Panther, is also set for Avengers: Secret Wars. In the same interview with People, Liu elaborated on his experience shooting Avengers: Doomsday, sharing the following:

Simu Liu: I came away from Doomsday with like, a lot of, a lot of really fantastic friendships. Channing Tatum ... I wanted to shout him out because he's just one of my favorite human beings. And, um, I just had such a phenomenal time with him, on-set, off-set. He's just, you know, such an admirable person.

Marketing is currently taking place for Avengers: Doomsday, as Disney and Marvel Studios have been screening a new teaser trailer in theaters in front of Avatar: Fire and Ash. That is how Chris Evans' Steve Rogers return was formally confirmed.

The latest teasers have focused on Chris Hemsworth's Thor and the X-Men characters, as they will be playing vital roles in Avengers: Doomsday. Additional Avengers: Secret Wars casting will likely be revealed over the next few months as they get closer to starting shooting.

After helming Avengers: Doomsday, Joe and Anthony Russo are officially helming Avengers: Secret Wars, which will be the final installment for The Multiverse Saga. The next MCU release for Marvel Studios will be the Wonder Man TV show on Disney+, premiering on January 27.

Marvel Studios' Avengers: Secret Wars heads to theaters on December 17, 2027, while Avengers: Doomsday opens this year on December 18.
