The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update brought several elements of new content to the game, perhaps the biggest of which is a hotel on the dock run by Kapp'n's family. Though players have learned many of the hidden details of the update already, one impactful change doesn't become apparent until players have progressed fairly far into the new content: Kapp'n now offers two of his Boat Tours a day instead of one.

Kapp'n and his Boat Tours can potentially be a gold mine for players, especially when it comes to acquiring materials. While some islands the sea turtle takes players to will be very reminiscent of Nook Islands, he can also take them to a myriad of rare islands — some are set in different seasons and full of seasonal materials, like cherry blossoms or mushrooms, while others are covered in things like star fragments. As it has evolved, New Horizons has introduced other currencies alongside bells and Nook Miles, the newest of which is Hotel Tickets, which are earned by helping decorate rooms in the new hotel and completing the DIY requests posted on the dock.

Reddit user danniperson shared that, after working at the hotel for a while, Kapp'n offered to take them on a second Boat Tour in one day, paid for with Hotel Tickets. We tested this for ourselves, and can confirm that after completing all eight hotel room designs and the VIP room, we were able to go on a second ride for 100 Hotel Tickets. As far as we can tell, there does not seem to be a secondary requirement involving the number of DIYs submitted or total Hotel Tickets earned.

Though it seems like a small change, the ability to take two Boat Tours could be a big game changer. It offers twice the chance to land on a rare island. Even if players wind up at two common ones, that's still double the amount of crafting materials that can be raided. This ability would be especially useful after a player receives a fortune from Katrina that their luck with belongings will improve, which guarantees a rare island. Since this new ability requires players to progress the hotel, there's never been a better time to get decorating.
