Another name has been added to the growing cast list for Amazon's God of War live-action series.
Over the weekend, it was announced that Teresa Palmer will portray Phoebe/Sif, Thor's wife and the goddess of family. This character's inclusion in Amazon's adaptation suggests we will see beyond Kratos' own journey in 2018's God of War, which the series is based on, and how his actions affect others in this world.
Along with the Amazon's upcoming show, Palmer's other acting credits include A Discovery of Witches and Warm Bodies.
Palmer joins Ryan Hurst (who played Thor in God of War Ragnarök) as Kratos in the upcoming show, which is a collaboration between Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios. Last month, it was announced that Frederick E.O. Toye will direct the first two episodes of the upcoming God of War series. Toye's works include Amazon's acclaimed Fallout series, and The Walking Dead.
In addition, former Battlestar Galactica executive producer Ronald D. Moore will serve as showrunner on the upcoming series. Moore hasn't always been involved with the God of War TV show, only joining the project towards the end of 2024, following the departure of the original team.
"God of War follows father and son Kratos and Atreus as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human," reads the show's official logline.
We still don't have a release window for the first season, however a second season of God of War has already been greenlit at Amazon.
As for the character of Sif, she appeared in God of War 2018's sequel Ragnarök, where she was voiced by Emily Rose (aka, Elena Fisher in PlayStation's Uncharted games).
