EXCLUSIVE: Alana Hadid has signed on to join Seeds for Liberation, a new feature doc by Matthew Solomon (Reimagining Safety), as an Executive Producer.
Seeds for Liberation will be Hadid’s first film project since leaving Watermelon Pictures late last year. She will also host a panel discussion at the film’s world premiere on January 17th in Los Angeles.
Featuring interviews with 20 prominent voices and filmed using two iPhone 16s over the spring and summer of 2025, the doc is described as “an easily digestible educational tool for curious audiences.” The film is said to explore Palestinian resistance and the movement’s ties to justice movements around the world.
The doc features interviews with some of the most prominent speakers on the subject matter, including human rights attorney Dr. Noura Erakat, investigative journalist Abby Martin, journalist Chuck Modiano, emergency medicine physician Dr. Mimi Syed, and members of the Black Liberation Army, La Raza Unida, and Stop Cop City–the film spans decades of solidarity and demonstrates why the fight for liberation must be intersectional.
“Seeds for Liberation reminds us that Palestinians are not waiting to be spoken for,” Hadid said in a statement. “We will liberate ourselves, with our own voices, our own history, and our own truth – alongside our allies. This film preserves our collective memory told by us, in our words.”
Hadid is an activist, filmmaker, and writer. She was most recently creative director at Watermelon Pictures. She was the host of The Seeds podcast and is co-author of two forthcoming books centered on Palestinian identity and history.
Following its Los Angeles premiere, Seeds for Liberation will tour North America. The film is set for a screening at the Lost River Film Fest 2026 showcase in Texas and has scheduled screenings in Atlanta, Sacramento, and Halifax, Nova Scotia.
