19 Years Later, Hulk vs Sentry Rematch Settles Marvel's Strongest Hero

After almost twenty years, Hulk is charging into a rematch which will settle whether he can still be considered Marvel's strongest hero. Thankfully for Hulk fans, he walked away with a victory the last time he fought this particular foe. Sadly for Hulk fans, it's nowhere near as likely he'll win this time.

Hulk vs Sentry Rematch Is Coming This April

This March, Sentry will return to the Marvel Universe, following his 2020 death during the King in Black event. The Sentry will be reborn alongside his dark half the Void, battling against a new diseases called the Crystalline Plague - a virus that is about to infect "the Strongest One There Is."

Alessandro Cappuccio's cover art shows Hulk locked in combat with the Sentry, while the summary reveals that Hulk will be infected by this mysterious new threat. The clash is likely to be a particularly harrowing one for Sentry, as Hulk is one of his closest friends in Marvel lore, and the only person who never forgot him when all memory of him was erased from history.

At the same time, it makes sense that the Void would target the Hulk. The Void has targeted Hulk before in its attempts to antagonize its heroic counterpart, even breaking all the bones in Hulk's body during one attack.

It's Time to Settle Sentry vs. Hulk

The Hulk and the Sentry's last huge blowout fight took place in 2007's World War Hulk, when Iron Man dispatched the Sentry to bring down Hulk's Green Scar persona. The two engaged in an explosive battle with Hulk eventually triumphing, albeit being temporarily reduced to his Bruce Banner form in the process.

However, while Hulk claimed victory, he was also the angriest he's ever been, with footsteps that caused tectonic events. He hasn't been at that power level for a significant amount of time, and the Crystalline Plague will add another factor that may lessen his powers. Of course, if the Void's influence is at work, the plague may also prevent Hulk from holding back against his former friend.

Hulk and the Sentry are about to charge into a rematch two decades in the making, with the winner automatically claiming the crown of Marvel's strongest hero.
