Xthings’ New Ultraloq Smart Lock Doesn’t Care What Your Phone Brand Is

5 days ago 10

Xthings is at CES 2026 with a new smart lock called the Ultraloq Latch 7 Pro, a Matter-compatible lock that it says will support a key standard, called Aliro, that could make device-based digital keys far easier to use. The company also announced the Ultraloq Bolt Sense, which leans more on biometric authentication.

Let’s talk about Aliro first. You can think of that standard as something like Matter for Apple Home Key and Android tap-to-unlock—and not just because it also came out of the Connectivity Standards Alliance that’s behind Matter. Aliro is designed so that any smart lock that has it can be unlocked by any iPhone, Android, or smartwatch that also supports the standard, which should be most, once Apple and Android roll that out.

Expect more smart locks to use the standard soon. The CSA’s Aliro Steering Committee Chair, Nelson Henry, told The Verge that the standard recently “passed its final verification milestone and will come to market in Q1 2026,” which is also when Xthings says the Latch 7 Pro will be available.

The Ultraloq Bolt Sense is also interesting. Coming in the second quarter this year, it’s focused on biometric authentication, so facial recognition and palm vein recognition, similar to the TCL D2 Pro I reviewed last year. It also supports Matter, so it should work with any of the major smart home platforms, and connects via Wi-Fi.

Xthings hasn’t announced pricing for either the Ultraloq Latch 7 Pro or the Ultraloq Bolt.
