Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Mystery Matchmaker Finally Revealed in ‘End of an Era’ Docuseries
Josh Charles is not pledging his allegiance to Travis Kelce’s team, actually.
While detailing his appearance in Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight” music video alongside Dead Poets Society costar Ethan Hawke, the Good Wife alum revealed he called out Taylor’s Kansas City Chiefs player boyfriend for his on-the-field antics while on set.
“It wasn’t a fight,” Josh, an avowed Baltimore Ravens fan, explained to Jimmy Fallon on the Jan. 5 episode of The Tonight Show. “I’ve always liked Travis Kelce, I just thought he was so cool. But that year, they beat us in the AFC Championship game—they beat the Ravens. He was a real jerk that year.”
Indeed, Josh said he used the opportunity of meeting Travis on set to tell him exactly how he felt after watching the game.
“I said, ‘You know I’ve always liked you and this year you were kind of a d--k,’” Josh continued. “I said, ‘What was up with that?’”
And while Jimmy was astounded, calling Travis the most “lovable” person on Earth, Josh shared the NFL star was receptive to his feedback.
“He laughed and goes, ‘You know what you’re right,’” the Best Medicine actor continued, noting that Travis had told him their game against the Ravens carried a lot of weight for the Chiefs. “He’s like, ‘I had to come in with some swagger.’ And he did. He got one of our veterans to commit a personal foul, he got in our heads and it worked for them and they won the game.”
Of course, rivalries aside, Josh emphasized, “He was actually great.”
“I really liked him a lot,” he added. “Such a good dude.”

The 54-year-old isn’t the first one to give insight into what it was like to have Travis on the “Fortnight” set. After all, Taylor gave her now-fiancé her first-ever public shout out when accepting the Video of the Year for it at the MTV VMAs.
“This video seems very sad when you watch it,” Taylor said in her acceptance speech, “but it was actually the most fun video to make. Something I will always remember is that when I would finish a take, I’d say cut, and we’d be done with that take, I would always hear someone cheering and like, ‘Wooo,’ from across the studio—and that one person was my boyfriend Travis.”
Indeed, Taylor assured that Josh and Travis’ rivalry did not last long in the studio.
“Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic,” she added. “So, I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot because I’ll always remember that.”
