With Jujutsu Kaisen having made its return with Season 3 at long last, the anime community is quite abuzz, making for an exciting start to 2026. The Winter 2026 season alone is packed with many more exciting releases such as Sentenced to Be a Hero, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, and Oshi no Ko, to name only a few.
That said, this is barely the beginning of what's sure to be a packed year for anime all around, and it just got even more exciting as it seems like one of Shonen Jump's biggest new hits could also finally drop an anime announcement in 2026.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Is Here, but So Is Its Successor
As per a recent post on X, CyberAgent, the studio reportedly working on the Kagurabachi anime will be participating in AnimeJapan 2026, which is set to be held on March 28 and 29, 2026. No other details have been revealed so far about what this participation will entail, be it a panel, booth, or screening, but it creates hope for a huge update on Kagurabachi's anime.
While there have been reports and various hints about the project for over a year, neither CyberAgent nor Shochiku have formally announced Kagurabachi's anime yet, and AnimeJapan 2026 would be a prime opportunity to do so.
According to a financial report released by CyberAgent back in August 2025, the studio has four unnamed anime projects slated for 2026, many of which could be announced at AnimeJapan this year, and the hope is that at least one of these is Kagurabachi.
Kagurabachi's Anime: Everything We Know So Far
Custom Image by Ana NievesWhile there hasn't been an official announcement just yet, the signs all point to Kagurabachi's anime adaptation being in the works for quite some time now. The series instantly blew up in popularity almost immediately upon its release and has continued to be successful ever since.
Shueisha clearly saw the potential the series had very early on, filing for animation-related trademarks for Kagurabachi at the end of 2023. It was only a year later, in December 2024, that a report by Toyo Kezai would reveal that CyberAgent and Shochiku were reportedly working on the adaptation.
Even though another year has passed since, Kagurabachi's anime still appears to be making progress behind the scenes, with a web domain being spotted back in August 2025. All that to say, the stars seem to be aligning for Kagurabachi to finally announce its anime at AnimeJapan 2026, and now fans need only bide time until March.
