It looks like the good folks over at IGN Poland are delivering their Christmas present a little late this time around. Posting on Reddit, they've all but confirmed that they've had knowledge of the upcoming DLC for The Witcher 3 that the team at CD Projekt RED have been working on for quite some time.
With The Witcher 3 DLC rumored release date already leaked, many, including me, have been speculating over the last few days what this DLC might bring. Thankfully, IGN's Reddit post gave us even more information to mull over until we hear from CD Projekt RED officially. Claiming to have information from an official source, information on the upcoming DLC is coming in thick and fast.
The Witcher 3's 2026 DLC Could Add A New Region
Okay, this could be huge
Paul FarrellyThe highlight of their Reddit post has to be the promise of a new region to explore. According to their source, the developers were keen to focus on an area from the books that has yet to be explored in their game series. The area in question is none other than the desert region of Zerrikania.
Anyone familiar with the Witcher lore will know that Zerrikania is best described as a vast desert-like region, cut off from the north by mountains. It is a mysterious wasteland inhabited by warrior women, dragon cults and strange creatures. Ruled by Queen Merineaevelth, who believes dragons are sacred creatures and who also formed the mighty warrior group known as the Faithel, who are sworn to protect all dragons.
It's Even Bigger Than We Expected, If True
I'm so ready for this
With the DLC now being all but confirmed, it's clear that we're in for a treat. The last two expansions were impressively large. Blood and Wine, in particular, felt large enough to be a stand-alone game, and if CD Projekt RED and the team of Fool's Theory are taking us to a brand-new region, it's almost a given that this isn't going to be short on content. The new DLC might just be the tip of the iceberg as if it launches as rumored in May 2026, it will no doubt be followed by an aggressive ad campaign for The Witcher 4 to keep that hype train moving well into next year. Could the DLC offer a bridging gap between storylines for The Witcher 3 and The Witcher 4? Will it offer 30–40 hours of gameplay like Blood and Wine did?
There is plenty to think about and lots of speculation to examine for those who want to go down the rabbit hole. Hopefully, we'll get some concrete confirmation from official channels soon. One thing is certain though, it's shaping up to be a great year if you're a fan of The Witcher 3. Oh, valley of plenty indeed!
