The Shapeshifters star Simon Marlin has revealed his wife has tragically died, he announced on Thursday.

Taking to Instagram, the DJ penned a heartfelt tribute to his 'best friend' before sharing he's happy she is 'no longer in pain'.

Simon is the British half of the UK-based house duo The Shapeshifters, alongside his Swedish partner Max Reich. 

The band are best known for their debut single Lola's Theme, which jumped to number 1 on the UK Singles Chart in 2004. 

He wrote on Instagram: 'Farewell my love. Today is a day I feared, not having your unwavering love, your council, your support but most importantly your friendship.

'You fought so hard to stay with us but I am now happy your pain is gone and your light will burn bright elsewhere.

'You have countless times always been there when I needed you, through the ups and downs you never faltered and I only wish I could have fixed this for you like you fixed so many things for me.

'You were loved beyond measure by many and will be truly missed.

'Go now watch over us from afar like you did in life and we will see you again one day I truly believe You were a best friend in every way ❤️'

The Shapeshifters released their second single Back to Basics in March 2005, which soared to number 10.

The pair continued to release singles throughout the late 2000s and early 2010s.

In recent years, Marlin expanded into DJing, production, label work and has become a remixer and collaborator for major artists.

The duo have made hits with huge stars including George Michael, Leona Lewis and Cee Lo Green.
