Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for The Pitt season 2, episode 1.The premiere of The Pitt season 2 subtly confirmed that two of Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center's doctors are in a romantic relationship, and it's not who you would expect. The Pitt season 2, episode 1 had some major moments in it, from the revelation that Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) is going on a sabbatical to a baby being abandoned at the hospital. There were also much more subtle moments in the premiere, however, and one of them confirms a new relationship.
The entire cast of The Pitt is tied together in some interesting ways. Many of the doctors and nurses of PTMC have long-standing relationships, though we only get to see them for a single day. For example, Dr. Robby and Dr. Collins had a relationship before The Pitt season 1 that we found out about through their conversations. Now, The Pitt season 2 has already set up another romantic relationship between doctors.
The Pitt Season 2, Episode 1 Hinted That Garcia & Santos Are In A Relationship
Early on in The Pitt season 2, episode 1, Dr. Garcia (Alexandra Metz) hinted that she's in a relationship with Dr. Santos (Isa Briones). While dealing with a trauma patient, Garcia mentioned that Dr. Whitaker (Gerran Howell) used her toothbrush by accident. As we know from the ending of The Pitt season 1, Whitaker is living at Santos' apartment after she found him hiding out in PTMC's abandoned wing.
Whitaker is likely still living with Santos, as he only recently became a resident and is likely still struggling financially. So, if he's living with Santos and accidentally used Garcia's toothbrush, that means Garcia's toothbrush was in Santos' apartment. The most likely explanation for why Garcia's toothbrush would be in Santos' apartment is that they're sleeping together. Garcia is a surgeon, and she's certainly not rooming with Santos for financial reasons.
While The Pitt season 2, episode 1 didn't include an outright declaration of love between Santos and Garcia, this is a very strong hint that they're in a romantic relationship. The Pitt is, after all, known for its very naturalistic dialog and using natural conversation to reveal things about its characters. Dropping a subtle reference to Garcia's toothbrush being in Santos' apartment is exactly the way The Pitt would go about revealing a new romance.
We Still Have So Much To Learn About The Time Between The Pitt Seasons 1 & 2
via MovieStillsDBThis revelation that Santos and Garcia are probably dating also highlights an exciting aspect of The Pitt season 2: we have so much left to learn. Unlike almost every other medical drama, we only get one day to follow this cast of characters. Since The Pitt season 2 takes place about nine months after season 1, a lot happened between seasons that we simply didn't get to see and currently know almost nothing about.
Garcia and Santos' relationship is just the tip of the iceberg. Dana, for example, mentioned that she had taken some time off from the job after the PittFest shooting in The Pitt season 1, and we have no idea what her mental state is like or what she did during that time. Dr. Collins also finished her residency and left PTMC for another hospital, and we have no idea how Robby is taking it or the details of her last shifts at the hospital.

All the other doctors, interns, and nurses of The Pitt should also have fascinating things they did in the months between seasons. Whitaker, for example, is much more confident and experienced, while Langdon did his entire time in rehab. It should be really fascinating to glean bits and pieces of the doctors' personal lives over the course of The Pitt season 2 and start figuring out some of the mysteries of the time between seasons.
