Sobbing Teyana Taylor Sends Message to "Little Brown Girls" After Golden Globes Win

Teyana Taylor was already a winner before the 2026 Golden Globes even began.

While the One Battle After Another actress went on to accept the Best Supporting Female Actor in a Motion Picture trophy at the Jan. 11 ceremony, she shared a moment with Julia Roberts on the red carpet that left her overcome with emotion.

As for the sweet red carpet meetup, shared by on the Associated Press, Julia—who was there to present—held on to Teyana’s waist as she spoke to her. While listening to the Oscar winner, the All’s Fair star wiped away tears as Julia made her laugh.

Soon after meeting the Pretty Woman star, Teyana reflected on the moment with her “hero,” and how Julia made it happen.

“She parted the sea for me,” the 35-year-old subsequently told Entertainment Tonight in a backstage interview. “She told everybody to move out the way. It was scary. It looked so magical that when she came close to me, I said, ‘Don’t come another step, don’t come another step further. My eyes is getting watery.’”

“I could not believe that I was meeting her,” the “Gonna Love Me” singer added. “She’s literally one of my heroes and what she poured into me, like literally had me crying.”

While she didn’t share Julia’s exact words, Teyana—mom to daughters Iman, 10, and Rue, 5, with ex Iman Shumpert—revealed it was exactly what she needed in that moment.

“She poured so much life into me,” she told ET. “She poured so much life into me and I needed that. Oh my God. That was amazing.”

Teyana didn’t stop watering her flowers with Julia. Indeed, the A Thousand and One star—who beat out Ariana Grande, Amy Madigan, Emily Blunt, Elle Fanning, and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas in the stacked Best Supporting Actress category—was overcome with emotion as she accepted her award and celebrated “brown sisters and little brown girls” watching the ceremony.

“Our softness is not a liability. Our death is not that,” she said from the stage. “It's not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.”
