Netflix’s all-time charts are shifting once again, and Stranger Things is at the center of it. Stranger Things Season 5 has officially moved ahead of Bridgerton Season 1 and The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix’s Most Popular English-language shows.
Stranger Things Season 5 was already performing strongly based on viewership from its first seven episodes, which had placed it in ninth position on the chart. However, once Netflix factored in the streaming numbers for the series finale, the season gained enough momentum to climb past several of the platform’s most defining titles. As it currently stands, Season 5 now ranks sixth with 115 million views, right above Bridgerton Season 1, Season 3, The Queen’s Gambit, and The Night Agent Season 1. At the top end of the chart, Stranger Things Season 4 remains firmly positioned in the third place with a total of 140.7 million views, below Wednesday Season 1 and Adolescence. Beyond the all-time rankings, Stranger Things’ previous weeks’ performance was remarkable as well, and that's not all. For the week of January 5–11, all five seasons of Stranger Things appeared on Netflix’s Global Top 10 simultaneously.
Importantly, these numbers are not final. Netflix tracks viewership over a 91-day measurement window, and Stranger Things Season 5 will continue accumulating hours viewed until that period concludes in March. That means its ranking could still shift further as additional weeks of global viewing are accounted for.
The ‘Stranger Things’ Universe Is Expanding With Two New Spin-Offs
As Stranger Things continues to dominate Netflix’s charts, the franchise itself is already moving into its next phase. Netflix has officially begun expanding the universe through two separate projects. One is an animated series that is set within the original timeline, and the other is a live-action spin-off that is currently in development.
The animated project, titled Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, will take place between Seasons 2 and 3 and return viewers to Hawkins during the winter of 1985. According to a recent news report, the creators Matt and Ross Duffer said that animation was one of their earliest ideas for expanding the story. Matt Duffer further explained that the idea behind the cartoon series was "to evoke a feeling of an ’80s cartoon.” The other spin-off project, on the other hand, has been brewing since at least 2022 and will not be set in the 80s. Ross Duffer clarified that during an interview with the following statement:
“Whatever we do next, I’ll tell you this, it’s not going to be set in the ’80s. I think we’re done with the ’80s.”
All five seasons of Stranger Things are available to stream on Netflix. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
