Star Trek is about to boldly go where it's never gone before. The year is 2026, and for those of you keeping count, Star Trek will cross an important milestone before long. After all, this year marks the franchise's 60th anniversary, and the iconic sci-fi series is starting to tease its plans for the main event. Star Trek is going to go big to celebrate its birthday in 2026 as one of its biggest expansions yet is on the horizon.

After all, Star Trek is preparing to tackle a new medium. From TV to film and even video games, Gene Roddenberry's sci-fi classic has done it all. Now, Star Trek is going to explore a new world with help from the team at Webtoon.

Star Trek Will Go Boldly With Webtoon in 2026

If you are ready for a new round of Star Trek storytelling, Webtoon will make it happen in 2026. The digital publisher behind many of the world's top web comics is making its devotion to Star Trek clear. The official Star Trek website has confirmed its deal with Webtoon is ready to launch, but at this time, no specific start date has been given.

"The Star Trek universe will enter the digital comic space with Webtoon in 2026," the website confirms, detailing its plans for the franchise's 60th anniversary.

Of course, this deal with Webtoon is not the only expansion coming for Star Trek in 2026. No, the milestone year is partnering with every brand from LEGO to Meta Quest. However, this deal with Webtoon is of particular note given Star Trek's rich history in comics. The very first Star Trek comic launched in 1967, after all, under the watch of Gold Key Comics. In the decades since, a number of thrilling starship adventures have graced comic readers with recent hits like Star Trek: Red Shirts standing out. Currently, Star Trek: Voyager — Homecoming has a tight grip on fans as it follows Janeway's crew on new adventures. And of course, Star Trek: The Last Starship earned rave reviews in 2025 upon its launch as it brought James T. Kirk back into the spotlight.

Star Trek's 60th Anniversary Will Keep the Sci-Fi Series Busy

At this point, Star Trek's plans with Webtoon are not certain, but you can bet a number of original projects are in the works behind the scenes. This collaboration marks a major get for Webtoon following the company's successful partnership with Marvel Comics and Disney in 2025. The brand's broad audience will only strengthen Star Trek's grip on pop culture, but Starfleet is not limiting its growth to comics alone.

2026 will mark a number of major releases for Star Trek including the debut of Starfleet Academy on January 15. The Paramount+ original series will make way for season four of Star Trek: Stranger New Worlds, and according to current reports, the beloved franchise even has a new blockbuster movie set to begin production this year. From VR video game releases to new documentaries, Star Trek plans to hit warp for its 60th anniversary, but its expansion with Webtoon currently stands as one of the franchise's most exciting moves yet.
