Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which is widely regarded as the web-slinger's all-time best film, is a Netflix streaming hit eight years after being released. Sony's 2018 Spider-Man movie sees Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) becoming the titular superhero as he encounters variants with similar abilities across the multiverse.

Now, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has risen to the fourth spot on Netflix's U.S. streaming chart. The only movies ahead of it are Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story, Man on Fire, and Ford v Ferrari. The rest of the U.S. Top 10 includes Priscilla, Pitch Perfect 2, KPop Demon Hunters, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, Pitch Perfect, and Wrath of Man.

Into the Spider-Verse is not in Netflix's global Top 10, which can be attributed to it being unavailable to stream in many countries outside the U.S. as of now.

With a 97% Tomatometer score and 93% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie received nearly universal acclaim. It was also a major box office triumph, grossing $393.8 million worldwide against a $90 million budget. This led to the 2023 sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which has a 95% score from critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes and made $690 million globally on a $100 million budget.

Spider-Man variants looking shocked in Spider-Man into The Spider-Verse

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse's release has been delayed numerous times, but it is now slated for a June 18, 2027 theatrical debut. Despite the delays, Into the Spider-Verse's streaming success bodes well for the third movie, as the story of Miles and other variants remains incredibly popular.

The high viewership on Netflix also helps the franchise remain strong as work continues on a Spider-Punk spinoff movie. Daniel Kaluuya, who voiced the fan-favorite Across the Spider-Verse character, shared in December that he and co-writer Ajon Singh were in the "finishing stages" of their first draft.

Before either of these Spider-Verse projects are released, the live-action Spider-Man: Brand New Day comes to theaters on July 31, 2026. It marks the first time that Tom Holland has reprised the part since Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. Along with MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon), he is joined this time by Frank Castle/the Punisher (Jon Bernthal), Bruce Banner/the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and Sadie Sink in an undisclosed role.

From revisiting the beloved Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse on Netflix to looking forward to all the live-action and animated projects, it is a good time to be a fan of the web-slinger and the many variants that exist.
