Peter Parker is finally coming out of his Marvel Cinematic Universe hiatus this summer when Tom Holland reprises the role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. One of the biggest stories in Phase 6 will be the web-slinger's return for the Spider-Man: Brand New Day story, as the world will finally learn what the hero has been up to since Spider-Man: No Way Home.

During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Sadie Sink opened up about joining the Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast, as she had an unusual experience. The Stranger Things star stated, "I found out through online theories. Before I got cast in Spider-Man, there was speculation online that said, 'Sadie Sink is gonna be in the new Spider-Man,' I was like, 'I am?' Sure enough, two days later, they asked me to do it! So yeah, those theories, there's sometimes some truth to it!"

The MCU actor also poked fun at the many rumors that have been floating around about who she is playing. Sink shared, "It's torture [not being able to share who she is playing], and there's so much speculation, too. I feel like there's a new character every week."

The Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast finished principal photography in December 2025, with Destin Daniel Cretton serving as the director for the fourth installment of the web-crawler. This film will also be the final MCU movie to focus on a specific hero before Phase 6 shifts over to Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Several rumors and theories have focused on Sink potentially playing the X-Men hero, Jean Grey, in the MCU timeline, given that Marvel Studios is currently working on rebooting the mutants for their franchise. However, the studios have still not confirmed who she is actually portraying in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in November 2025, The Whale actor stressed that “A lot of people forget that hair color can change, but yeah, I understand all of the theories." Sink elaborated by saying, "People will just have to wait and see. I’m excited for all of it to maybe be put to rest.”

Deadline reported the same month that Sink will be back for Avengers: Secret Wars, which suggests that whoever she has been cast as in Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be crucial for not just Holland's new film, but the overall MCU. Filming on the sixth Avengers movie will begin this summer.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens in theaters on July 31.
