From naval fighter jets to galactic starfighters, Tom Cruise is mastering another Hollywood trade.

Star Wars: Starfighter director Shawn Levy recently raved about having the 3x Golden Globe-winning actor work a camera on the set of his upcoming installment, which is set to premiere in theaters on May 28, 2027 in the United States.

“Last week Steven Spielberg was here. And now Tom Cruise is wielding a camera, ruining his very nice shoes,” he told The New York Times after suggesting Cruise walk into ankle-length pond water to operate a camera during a scene with a lightsaber duel.

“Now when you see the movie, you’ll know that part of it was shot by Tom,” added Levy. “I mean, how cool is that?”

The Times visited the upcoming Star Wars movie’s UK set on the same day in November that Cruise dropped by in a helicopter.
