Severance Season 3 Filming Window Revealed by John Turturro [Exclusive]

It’s now been over a year since the second season of Severance kicked off on Apple TV, but updates about the confirmed third season of the hit sci-fi series have been few and far between. Apple TV confirmed that Severance had been renewed for Season 3 on the same day as the Season 2 finale, and Ben Stiller promised shortly after that the wait for Season 3 would be less than that of Season 2.

Collider’s Perri Nemiroff recently spoke with Severance star John Turturro at the Sundance Film Festival to promote his new film, The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, and she asked about the rumors that production is set to begin this April. Turturro set the record straight, saying, “No, I’ve heard July.” However, when asked if he could share anything about Season 3, he said, “I don’t know nothing. I'm in the dark.” It’s possible that Turturro knows more than he’s letting on and is just staying tight-lipped to keep the Apple TV overlords happy. However, Nemiroff did ask if there was any corner of his character, Irving, that he hopes to explore in the future, and he wasn’t shy about speaking up:

“Yeah, but I don’t know if anyone knows about it. It’s deep in my imagination. Well, last we know, he was on a train. You always think about your character’s personal, intimate life that you don’t really see in a movie. You're always thinking about, ‘I wonder what they do when they’re alone.’”

Turturro also confirmed that he thinks Irving “has a whole other life,” which is something fans want to learn more about in Season 3. Severance Season 2 explored more of the outer personalities of severed employees, so it’s a safe bet that this trend will continue in the third season, even if it is still lacking a release window.

What Is ‘The Only Living Pickpocket in New York’ About?

John Turturro’s new sci-fi thriller, The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, follows a veteran pickpocket who is sent to New York on a mission to fix a job that went awry. Giancarlo Esposito and Steve Buscemi also star in the film, which was written and directed by Noah Segan. The Only Living Pickpocket in New York has yet to secure distribution, so it’s still lacking a release date. Reviews for the film out of Sundance are likely to come soon.
