He is also an experienced baseball writer with over six years of articles between multiple outlets, most notably FanSided's CubbiesCrib. Between The IV Leader at Illinois Valley Community College and The Pegasus at Eureka, he spent the majority of his college career publishing articles on everything from politics to campus happenings and, of course, entertainment for the student body. Those principles he learned covering the 2020 election, Palestine, and so much more are brought here to Collider, where he has gleefully written on everything from the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes to Nathan Lane baby-birding sewer boys.

Senior year is almost over, and everyone's favorite rude teddy bear is just as immature as the day he started class. Just over two years after the show's debut, Peacock has released the first trailer for Season 2 of Ted, teasing more raunchy misadventures for Seth McFarlane's titular toy come to life and his awkward best friend, John Bennett (Max Burkholder). Premiering on March 5, the prequel to McFarlane's Mark Wahlberg-led comedy films is picking back up with John on the cusp of adulthood. Now halfway through his final year before moving on to college, he and his stuffed friend are bound to make the most of what time they have left in high school before taking on the responsibility that comes with growing up. That means getting weird, wild, and, at least in Ted's case, laid.

When the trailer starts, John is in the same place he started the 90s-set series — single, unpopular, and getting stoned with his bud, Ted. Time has flown since they started going to school together, yet there's still so much he wants to accomplish. He still hasn't had a girlfriend and is still making mistakes, like calling a naughty hotline on a school phone, in pursuit of one. His reputation as a loser certainly hasn't changed either. Fortunately, Ted's still there by his side to get in trouble with him and try to ease into responsibility with him. Whether they're joining school plays, applying for college, learning about Dungeons & Dragons from the great Brennan Lee Mulligan, or keeping watch while the other has "dirty bear sex" in the back of a car, they remain inseparable during this pivotal time of growth and self-discovery.

Every member of the Bennett family is back in the fold for Season 2 of McFarlane's raunchy, yet surprisingly heartfelt comedy series. In addition to Burkholder, Scott Grimes plays John's strict, blustering, blue-collar dad, Matty, Alanna Ubach embodies his remarkably sweet mother, Susan, and Giorgia Whigham rounds out the unit as his outspoken liberal college student cousin, Blair. McFarlane also continues his duties as writer, director, executive producer, and co-showrunner, joining Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh. In a statement about Season 2, the creative trio shared a statement crediting the entire team for making Season 2 of Ted possible and promised another round of episodes that strike that balance between sweet and silly:

"We’ve made a second season of our show Ted, which we are excited to share with you. The episodes represent the hard work of our fellow writers, gifted actors, and talented crew, including the visual effects team who bring the character of Ted so convincingly to life.

We hope you enjoy these eight somewhat filthy, hopefully funny heartfelt episodes about a young man, his talking teddy bear, and their highly dysfunctional family. On the off-chance the series is not your cup of tea, a great way to get us back is to leave all the episodes playing to completion on multiple devices throughout the house. That’ll show us."

'Ted' Will Soon Expand With an Animated Series

The return of Ted will have a lot to live up to. Season 1 burst onto the scene in early 2024 and soared to become Peacock's most-watched original title ever. By Nielsen's ratings, it also spent over two consecutive months as the top streaming comedy in the U.S. and even enjoyed international success on Sky in the UK, becoming its biggest comedy launch in 15 years. All the momentum not only earned a Season 2 renewal but got the ball rolling on Ted: The Animated Series, a new sequel that will reunite McFarlane with Wahlberg and Amanda Seyfried and pick up where Ted 2 left off, with a cast also featuring Jessica Barth, Kyle Mooney, and Liz Richman. A date has yet to be set for the new chapter, but it will hail from the same production team as the prequel, including UCP, Fuzzy Door, and MRC.

Ted Season 2 premieres on March 5 on Peacock. Check out the trailer in the player above.
