Resident Evil: Requiem is still a month-and-a-half away, but there's a much closer date to look forward to now. In December, Capcom teased a Resident Evil showcase coming in January to further showcase the ninth mainline installment. Now, the date has been locked in.
A teaser trailer on the official Resident Evil YouTube channel confirms that the Resident Evil showcase will happen at 2PM PT/5 PM ET on Thursday, January 15. The teaser contains brief flashes of dual protagonists Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy fighting belligerents, along with a brief shot of director Koshi Nakanishi.
The Resident Evil Showcase Could Answer Some Big Questions
More About The Magnum, Please
The content of the teaser suggests that the showcase could spotlight the game's combat, which still holds some mysteries. Leon's use of a hatchet has been previously revealed, for example, but how it will compare to Resident Evil's typical knives remains to be seen. The trailer does highlight his ability to parry with the weapon, as he blocks a chainsaw attack in Resident Evil 4 fashion.
The showcase could also spotlight the game's variant of the Magnum revolver, as the powerful weapon appears in the teaser thumbnail, a gameplay snippet, and a cinematic shot of Grace inspecting it. The thumbnail shows a red bullet lying next to the gun, which could tie into something like Resident Evil 6's concept of a cure found in someone's blood. It could also be something as abstract as a teaser for Ada Wong, whose most iconic appearances are all in red.
As for the story, Resident Evil Requiem probably isn't withholding any reveals as big as the return of Leon S. Kennedy, so the January 15 showcase might not have anything mindblowing. That being said, there could still be new details about Leon's involvement or the mysterious nature of the game's antagonists.
It's Time To Find Out More About Requiem
If You Want To, That Is
Resident Evil showcases tend to be about 30 minutes long, so aside from the stream's potential intersection with work or school hours, tuning in shouldn't be a massive commitment. Whether you want to learn more about the game or go in relatively blind is up to you, of course, but plenty of fans have been scrounging for every morsel of information they can get.
If you'd rather not know anything more, it might be wise to avoid social media for a while on Thursday. Otherwise, this could be the last big opportunity to learn more about Resident Evil Requiem's secrets before the game launches on February 27.
