A short-lived Prime Video series is finding new viewers in the year of 2026. In the big genre of sci-fi and fantasy shows, some last longer than others, but that doesn't mean that those with a shorter run can't find success years later.

Nearly four years after the first season's conclusion, The Peripheral is finding a new audience, achieving a fresh success. According to FlixPatrol, the sci-fi drama is currently trending #1 on Prime Video in Nigeria. However, its streaming success doesn't stop there, as the series is also surging at #2 on the Amazon-owned digital platform in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, and South Africa.

The Peripheral show is also performing at #5 in Belgium and Switzerland. The series, which starred Chloë Grace Moretz as Flynne Fisher, is also holding the #6 spot for Prime Video in Finland.

While being loosely based on William Gibson's 2014 book of the same name, The Peripheral was created by Scott B. Smith, with Jonathan Nolan also serving as one of the executive producers. Following The Peripheral season 1 ending, Prime Video actually renewed the series for another season on February 9, 2023.

However, 2023 became the year of the Writers Guild of America strike, as well as the SAG-AFTRA strike, which went into effect in May and July of that year, respectively. Despite having been picked up for another season, The Peripheral season 2 got cancelled, due to the duration of the strikes.

The Prime Video Original has a 79% rating on the Critics' Score on Rotten Tomatoes, while holding 85% on the Popcornmeter. The Peripheral cast also starred Jack Reynor, T'Nia Miller, Gary Carr, JJ Feild, Katie Leung, Melinda Page Hamilton, Chris Coy, and Adelind Horan.

Catch all eight episodes of The Peripheral on Prime Video.
